Delegates and people burned incense, released wreaths, and observed a minute of silence to express gratitude for the bravery and heroic sacrifice of the sailors of the Ship Without Number at Vung Ro wharf.
Returning to the old battlefield, People's Armed Forces Hero Ho Dac Thanh could not hide his emotion and nostalgia.
"This is where my comrades and I were welcomed by our compatriots and soldiers and were ready to protect them when the Ship Without Number docked. The blood and bones of many soldiers still lie here. Deep down, I have great faith that today's generation has enough courage to successfully complete the assigned mission," Mr. Thanh expressed.
Nguyen Phuc Nguyen (17 years old, student of Nguyen Hue High School, Tuy Hoa City, Phu Yen Province) said: "This is the first time I have attended the memorial service for the soldiers of the Vung Ro Ship Without Number.
I was extremely moved and promised myself to try and strive to become a useful person for society, not letting down previous generations."
