Lan Nghieng residential area in Na Giam hamlet (Nghinh Tuong commune, Vo Nhai) is located deep in the special-use forest. |
Lan Nghieng residential area has 6 households with 28 people, all of whom are Dao ethnic people. This area is located deep in the special-use forest, nearly 4km from the village center. To get here, you have to walk along the forest road for more than an hour.
Living in isolation in the mountains and forests, the households have no electricity, lack land for production, and have extremely difficult transportation. Poverty has clung to the 6 households for many years. Although they want to move to an area near the village center to live, due to difficult conditions, the people still have to stay in the mountains and forests.
Recently, joy came to the people of Lan Nghieng area when Vo Nhai district decided to support each household with 100 million VND from the district's budget for removing temporary and dilapidated houses. Thanks to this resource, households can move down the mountain, build new houses, and gradually stabilize their lives.
Mr. Nong Quy Duong, Secretary of the Party Committee of Nghinh Tuong Commune, said: All 6 households in Lan Nghieng residential area are eligible for support to remove temporary and dilapidated houses. However, transporting construction materials to this area is very difficult, the transportation time is long, and the cost will be very high. Faced with this reality, district and commune officials have actively promoted and mobilized people to move to an area near the center of the hamlet to stabilize their lives, and all households agree with this policy.
Representatives of 6 households in Lan Nghieng residential area, together with officials of the district, commune and Na Giam hamlet, started construction of new houses. |
On April 12, representatives of 6 households in Lan Nghieng residential area, together with officials of the district, commune and Na Giam hamlet, organized the groundbreaking ceremony to build new houses on a land area of over 2,000m2. This is an important first step in the journey to help them stabilize their lives after many years of living in isolation in the deep forest. The joy was evident on each person's face, as the dream of a spacious home and better living conditions is gradually becoming a reality.
Mr. Phan Van Duong, a member of one of the families supported to relocate, emotionally shared: Living in the mountains and forests, we lack everything all year round. Every month, we are lucky to be able to go to the market once or twice. Now that the State cares and supports us to move closer to our village, closer to the market, and more convenient to travel, I am so happy that I can't sleep.
Sharing the same joy, Mrs. Trieu Thi Son said: My family has 6 members, including 3 grandchildren of school age. For many years, I only wished to have a solid roof, with electricity for my grandchildren to study like other children in the neighborhood. Now that dream is about to come true, my family is very happy...
The support for the relocation of households from the special-use forest area not only helps people have better living conditions, but also demonstrates the close attention and determination of the Party Committee and the government of Vo Nhai in caring for the lives of ethnic minorities in remote areas. The houses under construction will be the foundation for a stable and prosperous future, where the Lan Nghieng people can not only "settle down" but also confidently "make a living".
