The Prime Minister has just approved the project "Training and fostering human resources to serve nuclear power development by 2035".
670 people trained abroad to work at 2 nuclear power plants
Deputy Prime Minister Le Thanh Long has just signed Decision No. 1012/QD-TTg approving the project "Training and fostering human resources for nuclear power development by 2035".
The project's goal is to meet the human resource needs for the Ninh Thuan 1 and Ninh Thuan 2 nuclear power plants by 2030, with a total of 3,900 university graduates (engineers, bachelors) and college graduates, of whom 670 will be trained abroad.
Specifically, Ninh Thuan 1 nuclear power plant needs 1,920 people (1,020 university graduates; 900 college graduates; 320 newly trained abroad) and Ninh Thuan 2 nuclear power plant needs 1,980 people (1,050 university graduates; 930 college graduates; 350 university and postgraduate graduates newly trained abroad).
In addition, training and updating knowledge for management staff of the two nuclear power plants Ninh Thuan 1 and Ninh Thuan 2;
Short-term training and internship in specialized skills on management and operation of nuclear power plants for cadres, civil servants, public employees, and experts currently managing in ministries, branches, and working in the field of nuclear power at training and research facilities, expected to be about 700 people.
Updating knowledge for lecturers, researchers, and technicians currently teaching at universities, research institutes, and colleges that train in nuclear power majors, an estimated 450 people.
Training lecturers in nuclear power majors to supplement teaching human resources for training institutions assigned to train and develop human resources for two nuclear power plants, about 120 people (80 masters, 40 doctors).
In the period 2031 - 2035, human resource training and development will be based on the actual needs of nuclear power plants.
Priority is given to training students who have graduated from the same major group.
Regarding human resource training, priority will be given to students who have graduated in the same major group, to be sent for training and development in nuclear power with a commitment to serve two nuclear power plants.
Select and send first and second year students from domestic schools to study abroad with a commitment to return to work at two nuclear power plants.
The Prime Minister assigned the Ministry of Education and Training to coordinate with the Ministry of Finance and relevant ministries to develop a decree regulating preferential policies for lecturers, students, learners, and managers participating in training and fostering human resources in the nuclear power sector (replacing Decree No. 124/2013/ND-CP) in the fourth quarter of 2025.
At the same time, issue training program standards for university degrees in the field of nuclear power; issue training organization plans, assign enrollment targets for university and postgraduate degrees; enroll students to study abroad for university and postgraduate degrees according to projects and scholarship agreements for majors in the field of nuclear power.

Previously, Vietnam restarted the Ninh Thuan nuclear power project, with two plants No. 1 and 2 located in Phuoc Hai and Vinh Hai communes. The first plant is expected to operate (generate electricity) in 2030, at the latest by the end of 2031 to ensure economic and social development.
