14 people died, 3 people were injured in a fire at a motel in Trung Kinh, Cau Giay

According to the report, at 00:46 on May 24, the People's Committee and the Trung Hoa Ward Police received a fire report from a citizen. The fire broke out at house number 1, lane 43/98/31, Trung Kinh Street, Trung Hoa Ward, Cau Giay District, Hanoi .

After receiving the information, the Chairman of the Ward People's Committee directed the Ward Police, the Ward Fire Prevention and Rescue Team, and the Civil Defense Fire Fighting Team to immediately arrive at the fire site; using fire fighting equipment from the public fire station and surrounding households to handle the fire. At the scene of the house, the surrounding residents and the homeowner broke the window on the second floor of the 2-storey house to escape 4 people.

The house on fire is located at No. 1, Alley 43/98/31 Trung Kinh. This is a family house, rented for living and repairing electric vehicles. The house is about 200m from Trung Kinh street; at Alley 43/98, a public fire station has been established about 30m from the house on fire (scale of the house: including a 2-storey house, 1 attic with an open drying yard and a row of 3-storey houses, each floor has 4 rooms, an open corridor in front); the house is built with an area of about 150m2 on a total construction land area of 205m2, the remaining area of about 55m2 is an empty yard for parking motorbikes, bicycles, electric bicycles; the house has been equipped with fire extinguishers arranged in the yard and corridors of each floor.

The total number of members in the homeowner's family is 7 people and 17 people registered to rent to stay/total of 12 rooms for rent (10 rooms for rent and 2 rooms for the homeowner); family members have participated in the propaganda and training class on fire prevention and fighting and rescue organized by the Ward People's Committee.

At 00:52, the Fire Prevention and Rescue Police Team of Area 2 - Department PC07 arrived and immediately approached the alley 43/98/31 Trung Kinh Street to deploy forces and vehicles through the alley to approach the house on fire.

At 00:55, the Fire Police and Rescue Force arrived at the scene; at this time, the fire had burned down motorbikes, bicycles, and electric bicycles parked in the yard area, the steel frame and corrugated iron roof covering the front yard had collapsed, the fire spread and developed strongly along the vertical axis from the 1st floor to the 2nd and 3rd floors and along the horizontal axis of the rooms on the 1st floor; at this time, the fire was generating a lot of smoke and toxic gas covering the entire attic, staircase, and hallways of the floors.

At about 1:05 a.m., a fire truck from the Fire Prevention and Rescue Team of Area 2 - Department PC07, Cau Giay District Police arrived at the scene. The ward's fire fighting forces coordinated to extinguish the fire and search and rescue.

Immediately after arriving at the scene, the Fire Police and Rescue Force organized to cut and break the lock of the main gate to deploy forces and vehicles to approach the fire area through the main yard, the entrances to the rooms on the floors of the house (rescuing 3 people in this approach); at the same time, they deployed to break the window on the outer wall surface of the 2nd floor of the family house, using the rescue ladder provided by the house (rescuing 4 people in this approach from the 2nd floor of the house).

After 10 minutes of fire fighting, the fire was basically under control, preventing it from spreading to neighboring households. The Fire Police and Rescue Force continued to spray water to extinguish the fire, cool the structure, and search for victims and rescue. At 01:26 on the same day, the fire was completely extinguished and continued to search for victims.

At around 3am, many bodies wrapped in cloth bags and placed on stretchers were taken out by authorities. At around 4am, the fire was extinguished. Authorities are blocking off Trung Kinh Street.

Human damage: number of deaths: 14 people (10 people were taken to Tran Vi funeral home, 4 people were taken to 19-8 Hospital funeral home).

Number of injured: 3 people are currently being treated at the Transport Hospital (currently their health is basically stable).

Property damage is being counted and clarified.

The Ward People's Committee is coordinating with functional units to investigate the cause of the fire.

Currently, the Ward People's Committee is directing the police, medical , rescue forces, ward officials and civil servants to stabilize the situation, visit and support the families of the victims.
