Day 1: Enjoy Tam Coc - Bich Dong, enjoy the peaceful life
Van Anh chose a limousine as her means of transportation from Hanoi to Ninh Binh, the ticket price is about 200,000 VND/person/way, with drop-off at the homestay in Tam Coc.
She stayed at Annamoi House In Tam Coc, a small homestay located near the boat dock, surrounded by cafes and fresh natural scenery. The room is fully equipped, priced at about 650,000 VND/night, including breakfast and a small swimming pool.
On the first morning, Van Anh started her journey at Tam Coc. The boat ticket costs 250,000 VND/person. If you go alone, you may have to wait for enough people to join the boat.

The experience of sitting on a boat on the peaceful river brought Van Anh moments of relaxation, immersing herself in the beautiful nature of Tam Coc (Photo: Provided by the character).
However, Van Anh chose to go with 2 people, she had to pay an additional 50,000 VND to avoid sharing a boat with strangers. However, the scenery along the Ngo Dong River made all worries disappear: clear water, majestic limestone mountains, the boat threaded through three cool caves.
Van Anh shared: “Rowing a boat in Tam Coc is a very special experience. As the boat glides between the towering limestone mountains and green rice fields, I feel like I am floating in a vivid ink painting. The space is quiet, cool, everything is so peaceful. This is truly a memorable experience that anyone coming to Ninh Binh should try at least once.”
In the afternoon, she visited Bich Dong, known as “Nam Thien De Nhi Dong” (the second most beautiful cave in the South). The path to the pagoda winds around the mountain, through three floors of caves, leading to a panoramic view of the rice fields and winding river. Admission is free, only a parking fee of 20,000 VND is required.

Van Anh commented that Tam Coc Mountain View is a restaurant with a wide view of rice fields, a diverse menu including grilled dishes, hot pot and Ninh Binh specialties, close to nature (Photo: Character provided).
At the end of a long day, Van Anh and her group of friends had dinner together at Tam Coc Mountain View, a barbecue restaurant by the fields with a rich menu of about 70,000 VND/dish, including hot pot and local specialties.
In the evening, she and her group took a walk and stopped by Hoa Lu Ancient Town. She also said that here, visitors can take a boat ride at night, enjoy folk music and coffee by the river.
Day 2: Cuc Phuong National Park - Experience the wild nature
On the second day, the group decided to explore the primeval forest at Cuc Phuong - one of the oldest national parks in Vietnam. The entrance ticket is 60,000 VND/person, visitors can buy online to save time.
From Tam Coc to Cuc Phuong is about 45 minutes by motorbike. The group rented motorbikes right at the homestay for 120,000 VND/day, filled with gas and could travel comfortably all day.
The path leading to the forest brings a peaceful feeling with vast forests on both sides and the sound of chirping birds.

Here, Van Anh spent time visiting the primate rescue center, walking along the trails through the forest, admiring the thousand-year-old Chò tree and enjoying the cool, fresh air - something hard to find in the middle of a crowded city.
At noon, on the way back to Tam Coc, the group stopped by Tuan Anh Bun Cha Quat restaurant, a familiar address for locals with a full bowl of noodles, fragrant grilled meat, and well-mixed fish sauce, priced at only 30,000 VND/serving.
Before ending the journey, Van Anh stopped by Nhat Linh Coffee to watch the sunset over the young rice fields, ending the trip in peace.

With a cost of about 1.5-2 million VND/person for a 2-day-1-night trip, Ninh Binh is an ideal choice for those who want to get away from the noisy city, return to nature, and at the same time explore the unique cultural features of the North.
From rowing a boat through the Tam Coc River, walking in the Cuc Phuong Forest, to enjoying local specialties, Van Anh's journey is a testament to the appeal of Ninh Binh - a land that is both wild and poetic, with always something new to discover.
