On April 11, at the University of Transport Technology (GTVT), the Opening Ceremony of the practical round of the "Innovation - Construction Materials Students" contest for the 2024-2025 school year took place.
The competition, hosted by the UTT Faculty of Construction, is one of the outstanding activities in the series of events celebrating the 80th anniversary of the school. At the same time, this is also a special occasion for students to demonstrate their academic spirit, passion for research and innovation in the field of construction.
The opening ceremony was attended by experienced lecturers, experts and scientists from many technical training institutions in Hanoi. On behalf of the University of Transport Technology, there was the participation of Dr. Nguyen Manh Hung - Vice Rector, along with leaders of the Training Department, Science, Technology and International Cooperation Department, Faculty of Construction, and Institute of Transport Technology.

“Innovation - Construction Materials Students” is a prestigious academic competition, creating opportunities for engineering students to combine theoretical knowledge with practice, practice professional skills and develop scientific research thinking.
In 2025, with the theme "Cement concrete towards green development", the competition emphasizes environmentally friendly material solutions and the role of sustainable construction in the new era.
The competition gathered 33 teams from 6 major technical universities in Hanoi, including University of Transport Technology, University of Transport, Hanoi University of Civil Engineering, Hanoi University of Architecture, University of Water Resources and University of Mining and Geology.

The teams will go through three rounds: Practical competition from April 11-27 at the Construction Laboratory - UTT; Communication competition from May 11-18 on the official Fanpage of the competition and the final round is scheduled to take place on May 31 at the Great Hall of the University of Transport Technology.
Since 2016, the competition has been constantly innovating with innovative products: Kezamzit aggregate lightweight concrete (Hanoi University of Civil Engineering), concrete using crushed sand (University of Transport, 2018), and non-autoclaved lightweight concrete (Hanoi University of Mining and Geology, 2023). In 2025, the green development orientation continues to be emphasized, with the expectation of creating advanced technical products, contributing to Vietnam's sustainable construction industry.
The “Innovation - Construction Materials Students 2025” competition is not only an academic playground but also an opportunity for students to learn, explore and assert themselves. Through the competition, the organizers expect students to demonstrate team spirit, creativity and critical thinking - important factors to become comprehensive and confident future engineers.
