The University of Economics (University of Danang) said that a student majoring in Finance and Banking received a notice that he or she is eligible to enroll in a study abroad program in Australia. However, to be considered for a scholarship, students must demonstrate financial capacity. The greater the financial capacity, the higher the scholarship amount including living expenses and tuition fees received.

Notice to students of University of Economics about studying abroad.

Immediately after receiving the information, the school confirmed that this was a completely fake document. The school only provides information from official channels www.due.udn.vn , Fanpage of University of Economics - University of Danang , official Fanpage of units under the school such as Training Department, University of Economics - University of Danang , Youth Union - Student Association of University of Economics - University of Danang ...). The school recommends that students and their families do not provide personal information, do not transfer money or participate in any program without careful verification. If you find suspicious information, you must contact the school immediately.

Meanwhile, a student from the University of Technical Education (University of Danang) also received a notice impersonating the school, announcing that he had been “admitted” to an exchange program with Hosei University (Japan). The notice stated that the student would be exempted from tuition and housing fees, but had to prove his financial capacity through a bank account with a balance of 200 million VND. The student’s family transferred money into the account to prove his financial capacity. However, suspecting that the content was unusual, the student reported it to the Student Affairs Department and was confirmed that the notice was fake.

Faced with this situation, Da Nang City Police have sent a document to universities and colleges in the area warning of some individuals impersonating schools to defraud students and parents through overseas study scholarship programs.

Schools have warned of impersonation and fraud.

The main tricks are to fake announcements and invitations to participate in scholarship programs with logos, seals, and signatures of university principals and functional agencies under the Ministry of Education and Training . Using social networks or fake emails to spread advertisements and invite students to participate in student exchange programs and short-term study abroad. Impersonating officers of the school's International Cooperation Department, calling interested cases to discuss scholarship programs; taking advantage of students' desire to study abroad, scammers pressure parents and students to send money immediately because there is a waiting list, otherwise they will lose their place.

According to Da Nang City Police, many students and parents, especially those lacking information about formal study abroad, have been scammed out of large sums of money.
