8 teams participating in the qualifying round of the National Press Football Tournament - Press Cup 2025

On the afternoon of May 15, the draw ceremony for the 9th National Press Agency Football Tournament - Press Cup in the Southern region took place at the representative office of the Vietnam Journalists Association in Ho Chi Minh City. This year's qualifying round continues to be held in many regions across the country as usual.

In the Southern region, the 2025 Press Cup qualifiers have the participation of 8 teams including the Alliance of Ho Chi Minh City Law Newspaper - Znews, Ho Chi Minh City Television Station (HTV), Nguoi Lao Dong Newspaper, Thanh Nien Newspaper, Tuoi Tre Newspaper, Ho Chi Minh City People's Radio Station (VOH), Vietnam Television Center in Ho Chi Minh City (VTV9) and VNExpress Newspaper.

The draw results put four teams from the HCM City Law Newspaper Alliance - Znews, Tuoi Tre Newspaper, Nguoi Lao Dong Newspaper and Thanh Nien Newspaper in Group A while Group B includes the teams from Ho Chi Minh City Television (HTV), Ho Chi Minh City People's Voice (VOH), Vietnam Television Center in Ho Chi Minh City (VTV9) and VNExpress Newspaper.

Journalists compete fiercely on the field at the Press Cup

The National Press Agency Football Tournament - Press Cup 2025 is a sports competition event for journalists, responding to the campaign "All people exercise following the example of great Uncle Ho" and at the same time celebrating the 100th anniversary of Vietnam Revolutionary Press Day and the 80th anniversary of the National Day of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam.

The Press Cup qualifying round for the Southern region will take place from May 21 to 24 at Phu Tho Football Club (District 11, Ho Chi Minh City).

The champion and runner-up teams of the Southern region will qualify for the final round of the National Press Cup Football Tournament, scheduled to be held in Bac Ninh in early June 2025.

Meaningful sports activities of journalists

The prize for the champion of the Southern region of the Press Cup 2025 includes a trophy, medals, flags and 15 million VND. Along with the prizes for the second and third place teams, there are also secondary prizes such as the Style award, the Best Player of the tournament, the Best Goalkeeper, and the Best Referee Team.

The Organizing Committee revealed that the 2025 Press Cup national champion is expected to have a friendly match for the Super Cup with the Thai journalists' team in Hanoi on June 10.
