The Egyptian military has dispatched the Mistral aircraft carrier to the Libyan coast to provide emergency relief to victims affected by severe flooding caused by Storm Daniel.
According to Daily News, the Mistral aircraft carrier is equipped with a medical station, which will act as a field hospital. The deployment of the Mistral aircraft carrier was carried out under the direction of Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi to continue humanitarian assistance and relief activities for flood victims in Libya.
Earlier, an Egyptian naval ship also arrived in the Libyan coastal city of Derna to help recover bodies of flood victims at sea. Derna and other areas in eastern Libya were among the areas worst affected by the storm.
At least 11,300 people have died in Libya and thousands more are still missing after devastating floods caused by a storm, according to the latest figures from the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA).
