DNVN - Airbus Group is committed to supporting Vietnam's defense modernization goals by 2030 through advanced technological solutions designed to enhance national capabilities and contribute to regional stability.

At a press conference held on December 18th ahead of the Vietnam International Defence Exhibition 2024, Airbus leaders shared insights into the group's growing role in Vietnam's defense sector.

One of the key defense products is the C295 aircraft, a highly versatile medium-sized tactical transport aircraft that has demonstrated its quality and capabilities in military transport, medical emergency response, and air logistics support missions. The Vietnam Air Force currently operates three of these aircraft.

Airbus also plays a crucial role in developing domestic operational and maintenance capabilities for the C295, enhancing mission readiness and reducing reliance on external sources. This collaboration helps maintain stability and safety for the C295 fleet's operations, improves rapid response capabilities, and thus strengthens Vietnam's long-term military objectives.

Airbus Vietnam's General Director, Ms. Hoang Tri Mai, along with Airbus representatives, at the press conference.

Airbus is ready to cooperate with Vietnam in developing the C295 aircraft fleet and other variants, including the Maritime Surveillance version, to enhance Vietnam's air transport capabilities as well as its intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance capabilities in protecting Vietnam's airspace and territorial waters.

Different versions of the C295 aircraft share similar characteristics. This advantage simplifies training and conversion procedures for operating units, streamlines maintenance operations, and allows for flexible and easy configuration changes for various missions, from tactical transport to maritime patrol.

In the field of space technology, Airbus is strengthening its strategic cooperation commitment with Vietnam. At the Vietnam International Defence Exhibition (VIDEX 2024), Airbus will strive to expand cooperative relationships with partners in Vietnam, focusing on developing and enhancing Vietnam's capabilities in space technology applications.

These initiatives aim to open up opportunities for future collaboration, focusing on areas such as the development of integrated systems, data processing and transmission, high-resolution satellite imagery provision, and secure communication systems.

In addition, Airbus also introduced the H225M helicopter, a multi-role military helicopter proven in real combat conditions, to strengthen Vietnam's helicopter fleet. Designed for troop transport, search and rescue (SAR), and high-risk missions, the H225M military helicopter offers exceptional heavy payload capacity. These superior features make the H225M an ideal helicopter for a wide range of complex and challenging missions.

Similarly, the H145 helicopter series, widely known for its versatility and compact design, is optimized for medical transport, emergency medical assistance, public service, and coastal patrol missions. The recently improved H145 model, with its five main rotor blades, increases the helicopter's payload capacity by 150kg, further enhancing operational efficiency. The new H145 series will make Vietnam's helicopter fleet even more versatile and flexible for missions requiring rapid response across Vietnam's diverse terrain.

Airbus will also be launching, for the first time in Vietnam, the next-generation Flexrotor Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAS) model (1:1 scale) at VIDEX 2024.

Designed for Information Gathering, Surveillance, Target Designation, and Reconnaissance (ISTAR) missions, the Flexrotor unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) can flexibly support the missions of the Vietnam People's Navy and the Vietnam Coast Guard Command. With over 3,700 hours of combat flight time over land and sea, Flexrotor is an optimal solution for enhancing Vietnam's security and surveillance capabilities.

Airbus's General Director in Vietnam, Ms. Hoang Tri Mai, further shared: “With Vietnam's defense spending projected to grow at a compound annual rate of 5.6%, reaching US$10.2 billion by the end of this decade, Airbus has strategic advantages to partner with Vietnam in its defense modernization process, providing advanced solutions and technologies to enhance aircraft operational capabilities, stabilize the region, and achieve long-term security goals.”
