On November 15, 2023, Amazon officially introduced the “Astro for Business” robot, with a retail price of $2,349. The “Astro for Business” robot is capable of autonomous navigation or via remote control, equipped with an HD camera with night vision, allowing 24/7 real-time monitoring and two-way communication.
Along with the robot, Amazon offers three different subscription packages that agencies, businesses, and organizations can use to monitor their business premises.
The Ring Protect Pro service plan allows you to save monitoring records from the robot device for 180 days, syncing them with motion sensors and alerts.
The Astro Secure service package enables the robot to perform autonomous programmed patrols, moving along routes that the user independently configures.
The robot can also send alerts to the user and automatically navigate to activated sensors to check for possible abnormalities.
The Virtual Security Guard service package is the most premium package, priced at $99/month, allowing the robot to notify responsible people when it detects strangers, strange sounds or other activities that the robot deems suspicious.
To access the Virtual Security Guard package, users must subscribe to both the Ring Protect Pro and Astro Secure packages, which cost $20 and $60 per month, respectively.
Amazon tested a similar security robot in 2022, but only for homes. The “Astro for Home” robot is currently available by pre-order only and costs $1,599.
They are primarily designed to help users track pets, while “Astro for Business” is designed to map and navigate large spaces, up to 500 square meters.
