Housing for civil servants and public employees working in Ca Mau

Ca Mau flexibly expands the eligibility conditions, allowing those whose houses are more than 20km away from their workplace to buy social housing. Along with loosening policies, the province is urging investors to complete the social housing target this year.

This year, Ca Mau province plans to complete 601 social housing units.

The demand for social housing in Ca Mau is currently very large, estimated at about 3,000 units for civil servants, public employees, and workers in Party and State agencies (not including the Education and Health sectors). A typical example is the family of Mr. Nguyen Huu Khang, an official from Bac Lieu province (old) working at the Ca Mau Tourism Promotion Center. Every day, he and his wife have to travel more than 100km back and forth with their two young children. "I have completed the application and hope that I will be given favorable conditions to enjoy preferential policies, access social housing to work with peace of mind, and move my family to settle down in Ca Mau for a long time," Mr. Khang shared. Ms. Le Thi Thu Trang, a beneficiary of the new policy, expressed: "I want to have a house near my workplace for more convenience, I hope that the price will be suitable for the salary of cadres and civil servants, and the bank loan period will be longer to ensure payment."

By September 2025, Ca Mau had started construction on 3 social housing projects, with more than 1,580 units. The province is urging project investors to speed up implementation. Of which, the Dream House social housing project in An Xuyen ward has been under construction for less than a year but has met the conditions for selling future housing. Ms. Le Thi Hong Que, Vice Chairwoman of the Board of Directors of Asia Infrastructure Development and Construction Joint Stock Company (investor), said: "The company has met the conditions to sell 250 units, and is also working on construction to meet the conditions for selling 400 future houses by the end of the year. The first handover is expected to be done before the Lunar New Year 2026."

The plan to complete 601 units this year in Ca Mau province is considered feasible, as there is another project that has met the conditions to sell nearly 100 units and another project in Bac Lieu ward has been converted to social housing. Mr. Duong Chi Binh, Deputy Director of the Department of Construction of Ca Mau province, said: "The province is implementing many synchronous solutions to speed up progress. In addition to advising the Provincial People's Committee to propose many solutions to reduce and shorten procedures... The Department also strengthens guidance for localities to effectively carry out site clearance, creating favorable conditions for calling for investment in social housing projects. Regularly support investors to remove difficulties and obstacles so that the project can speed up progress."
