The 40m² house was built on the family’s land, with a total cost of more than 200 million VND. Of which, 60 million VND was supported by the “For the Poor” Fund of the Ministry of National Defense , the rest was saved by the family and helped by relatives.
Previously, Kien’s family lived in a cramped, damp rented house. “On rainy days, the house leaked, and my husband worked far away from home, I could only hug my child and sit in a corner. Now that we have a roof to protect us from the sun and rain, our family life has turned a new page,” said Ms. Tang Nhat Minh, Kien’s wife.
According to the story of Lieutenant Kien's family, from the beginning to the completion, the project was always closely monitored and cared for by the unit, as part of the collective work. Comrades in the unit regularly came to support the transportation of materials, leveling the ground, and roofing. The house was built not only with material, but also with camaraderie.

At the ceremony, the Naval Region 5 Command and the Technical and Logistics Support Center presented Lieutenant Kien's family with practical gifts including household items and school supplies for the children.
Speaking at the ceremony, Lieutenant Colonel Pham Khac Dong said: "Supporting the construction of "Comrades' Houses" not only has profound political and social significance, but also clearly demonstrates the concern and responsibility of all levels towards officers and soldiers who are facing housing difficulties. From that policy, in recent times, in Naval Region 5, many new houses have been built one after another. We hope that these houses will help comrades and their families stabilize their lives, feel secure in their work, and stay with the unit for a long time."
