The parade rehearsal took place from 7am to 12am on April 27. However, before that, thousands of people from Ho Chi Minh City and neighboring provinces had arrived since the night of April 26 to choose a "premium" seat, waiting to watch the parade rehearsal and the firing of 15 cannons.

The second and third series of shots... continued amid the cheers of the crowd at Bach Dang Wharf Park and Nguyen Hue Walking Street (District 1). The series of shots lasted about 2 minutes.

Next is the inspection of the artillery, preparing for the opening fire. The cannons used to deploy the artillery position are 105 mm guns, weighing about 4 tons, lined up in a long row facing the Thu Thiem New Urban Area, across the Saigon River.

Since early April, Brigade 96 has deployed 15 cannons at Bach Dang Wharf Park (District 1) to deploy artillery positions to serve the grand ceremony celebrating the 50th anniversary of national reunification (April 30, 1975 - April 30, 2025).

Stay up all night waiting to see the cannon fire

"I sat and waited all night but I didn't feel tired, I just wished for the sky to brighten quickly so I could see the cannons fire. The sound of the cannons sounded like the call of history, reminding me of the days when my ancestors fought to have peace today," said Ngoc Thach (30 years old, living in Go Vap District).

People, from children to adults, eagerly waited through the night to hear the sound of cannons firing on the morning of April 27.

At Bach Dang Wharf Park, after enjoying the fireworks display, people lingered, waiting for the new day to watch the parade, march and cannon firing rehearsal. Many families brought their belongings, food, raincoats, and stayed up all night waiting to see the cannon firing.
