Impact of storm No. 13: 11 casualties and many damages caused by the storm

According to the Department of Dyke Management and Natural Disaster Prevention and Control, Ministry of Agriculture and Environment, as of 7:00 a.m. on November 7, storm No. 13 and its circulation had killed 5 people (3 in Dak Lak, 2 in Gia Lai), injured 6 people; 52 houses collapsed and 2,593 houses were damaged or had their roofs blown off (2,412 houses in Gia Lai alone); the Star Bueno ship ran aground in Dung Quat waters (Quang Ngai).

The storm also caused 9 ships to be sunk by waves ( Dak Lak 4 ships, Quang Ngai 1 ship, Gia Lai 4 ships) and caused widespread power outages in Gia Lai.

Although the storm is assessed to have a strong impact on the Central and Central Highlands regions, thanks to the attention and close direction of the Party and State leaders, the drastic intervention of the Government, the Prime Minister , relevant ministries and agencies, especially the proactiveness of local authorities and people, the damage has been mitigated and is much lower than that of storms of similar intensity that have made landfall in this region.

To continue responding to the impacts of post-storm circulation, the National Steering Committee for Civil Defense requested ministries, branches and localities to drastically deploy synchronous solutions, promptly overcome the consequences of storm No. 13, promptly stabilize people's lives, restore production and business, contributing to achieving the growth target in 2025.

Localities quickly synthesize the damage caused by the storm; focus on quickly overcoming the consequences, prioritizing schools, hospitals, and houses that have collapsed, fallen down, or been damaged; ensure that people do not go hungry, have no place to live, do not receive medical care, and do not let students go to school; urgently overcome incidents related to dykes and dams; quickly and effectively overcome the incident of the Star Bueno ship running aground in Dung Quat sea area (Quang Ngai)....

According to the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, early on the morning of November 7, the tropical depression (weakened from storm No. 13) weakened into a low pressure area in the Lower Laos region. At 4:00 a.m., the low pressure area was located at about 14.6 degrees North latitude; 106.8 degrees East longitude. The strongest wind in the center of the low pressure area was below level 6 (below 39 km/h). It is forecasted that in the next 12 hours, the low pressure area will continue to move mainly in the West-Northwest direction, weakening and gradually dissipating.
