Specifically, the import of diamonds, copper, aluminum and nickel originating from Russia is expected to be banned by the end of 2023.
The announcement was made ahead of the G7 Summit in the Japanese city of Hiroshima.
Accordingly, the UK will impose sanctions on 86 Russian individuals and companies related to the military -industrial complex and sectors that bring export profits to the Russian budget.
So far, the British government has not released a list of individuals or companies that will face these sanctions.
Earlier, on May 18, a senior US official said that Washington decided to expand sectoral sanctions against Moscow and sanction 300 more Russian individuals and entities. These restrictive measures will affect not only Russia, but also a number of third countries.
Speaking to reporters, a US official said: "Washington will announce a significant package of sanctions. We will continue to expand export controls on Russia."
The new measures involve broad restrictions on critical battlefield goods, and cutting off about 70 entities from Russia and third countries from receiving US exports by adding them to the Commerce Department's blacklist, the official said.
In addition, the US will announce more than 300 new sanctions against individuals, organizations, ships and aircraft....
"Washington will also expand sanctions authorities to additional sectors of Moscow's economy that are key to its military-industrial complex and impose new restrictions to prevent Russia from benefiting from our services," the US official added.
