On October 3, at Military Hospital 175 ( Ministry of National Defense ), the Vietnam - Germany Scientific Conference was held with the theme "Medical cooperation - integration and development", gathering nearly 400 delegates and leading medical experts from Vietnam and the Federal Republic of Germany.
Dr. Tran Quoc Viet - Director of Military Hospital 175 - emphasized the comprehensive cooperative relationship with German partners in training, technology transfer, clinical research and hospital management.
Over the past 10 years, the hospital has sent 50 doctors, nurses, and technicians to the Federal Republic of Germany for training and technology transfer in the following specialties: orthopedics, spine, sports medicine, infectious diseases, and cancer at hospitals and medical facilities in Leipzig, Badchmeidenberg, etc.
Professor Christoph Josten - Medical Chair and Chairman of the Board of Directors, University Hospital Leipzig (Federal Republic of Germany) - commented generally on the health situation in Vietnam, in rural areas health services are still worse than in big cities, most public hospitals lack funding and infrastructure.
In particular, there is a combination of Western medicine and traditional medicine; outpatient and inpatient treatment is guaranteed at public hospitals, but patients still have to pay quite high treatment costs.
Currently, the German health system is also facing challenges such as: an increasingly aging population and many people surviving serious illnesses; costs are rising sharply, especially for modern medical equipment (such as DaVinci robots, linear accelerators) and cancer drugs (which can cost up to 1 million euros per use)...
Doctors from the university hospital have regularly visited Military Hospital 175 for over 10 years with theoretical and practical lectures and even surgical participation.

Dr. Vu Cong Lap - Deputy Director of the Vietnam - Germany Medical Center, Military Hospital 175 - said that the center is currently following a scientific research topic on home health care. The goal is to provide home health care for everyone, including those who are not sick, those returning from the hospital, the elderly, and those with chronic diseases...
According to Dr. Cong, human health includes physical health (movement, nutrition, respiration, sleep); mental health (intelligence, spirituality, emotions) and environment (nature, occupation, society).
"In the past, physical problems such as infections were common, but now mental health is very complicated. Invisible life pressures, stress, worries... cause health problems that are difficult to detect, so there must be a database to detect them," said Dr. Cong.
Statistics in Germany show that physical care accounts for 32%; mental health care accounts for 20%; cardiovascular care, cancer care... are behind and in the future, mental health care will be the number 1 priority.
According to Dr. Cong, data-based health care is very important, measuring devices based on new technology such as voice analysis to screen for anxiety and depression; video-based vital signs monitoring; AI scanning faces with cameras to infer vital signs...
