Vietnam has built a database of genetic variations of more than 1,000 Vietnamese genomes, discovering more than 40 million genetic variations.

Speaking at the conference, Dr. Bui Thanh Tung - Chairman of the Hai Phong Union of Science and Technology Associations said that the fourth scientific and technological revolution is increasingly penetrating into social life, especially technology related to blockchain, artificial intelligence (AI), biotechnology, including gene decoding, which has made breakthrough developments, opening up many opportunities in health protection and care. Mr. Tung said that with the participation of experts and leading units in this field, the conference will bring a completely new perspective related to economics , society and health care.

According to Dr. Bui Thanh Tung, in Vietnam, primary health care and disease prevention have not been given much attention while the world has done so for a long time. Therefore, this expert emphasized that applying preventive medicine is an effective solution to help reduce many medical costs, as well as help people have a healthy life. According to Mr. Tung, new technologies in gene decoding are very outstanding achievements, people need to know to refer to effective health care and disease prevention measures.

At the workshop, experts introduced the trend of applying precision medicine in public health care; gene decoding technology for Asians and practical applications in screening and preventing chronic non-communicable diseases such as diabetes, blood pressure, cardiovascular disease, stroke, and cancer. In addition, experts also presented the role of artificial intelligence (AI) in analyzing genetic data and AI applications in digital transformation of healthcare, along with many other related contents.

According to Dr. Dang Thi Thuy Duong - Lecturer at Hai Duong Medical Technical University, precision medicine or personalized medicine is treating the right patient with the right medicine, right dose, right time. This is an innovative approach, using information about each individual's genome, environment and lifestyle to guide decisions related to disease prevention, diagnosis and treatment.

Dr. Dang Thi Thuy Duong said that applying gene decoding - the premise of precision medicine - in public health care will help detect early, proactively prevent diseases, reduce treatment costs, and increase care efficiency.

At the workshop, Dr. Dang Thi Thuy Duong also shared specifically about the application of gene decoding in precision medicine in the world and in Vietnam, and at the same time made some suggestions for applying this model in the future. According to Ms. Duong, Vietnam has now built a database of genetic variations of more than 1,000 Vietnamese genomes, discovered more than 40 million genetic variations, initially serving the development of preventive medicine, precision medicine, diagnosis and effective treatment of diseases.

However, the application of precision medicine in Vietnam still faces many challenges, such as limited public awareness, high costs for genetic testing compared to the average income of the whole country, and lack of legal corridors... Therefore, this expert suggested that it is necessary to strengthen public education on precision medicine, organize communication campaigns and build a large genetic database of Vietnamese people to promote research and practical application.

Genetica experts - a company specializing in applying AI in developing gene decoding technology said that gene decoding is applied to assess health risks as well as explore children's potential... Through analyzing hundreds of genes, Genetica provides scientific and accurate information about physical, behavioral, intellectual, and health risks, thereby helping each individual choose the best solution for themselves and their family.

The workshop “Genetic decoding - Genetica: scientific foundation for modern personalized medicine” is considered an opportunity for experts, scientists and management agencies to exchange and share the latest research results, while raising public awareness of the role of gene decoding in proactive health care. This is also considered an important first step in promoting the application of precision medicine and digital transformation in the Vietnamese health sector, towards an effective, modern and humane preventive medicine.
