DTO - Based on information from local people, we went to Sa Dec General Hospital (Sa Dec City), where Ms. Pham Thuy Hong (born in 1981), residing in Long Thanh A hamlet, Long Hau commune, Lai Vung district, is being treated.
Ms. Pham Thuy Hong really needs the community's support to overcome this serious illness.
According to the family, Ms. Hong and her husband have not owned any land for a long time, working for hire to make a living, and have 2 children. However, recently, the family's hired work has not been regular, the income is unstable, mainly from Ms. Hong's husband's job as a bricklayer.
Ms. Tran Kim Huong (Ms. Hong's biological mother) shared: "In the past, my family's circumstances were difficult, we lived temporarily in a dilapidated house. Therefore, the local government supported us to build a house. Having a house, my children worked hard to save money."
Accordingly, in 2017, Ms. Pham Thuy Hong went to the Ho Chi Minh City Oncology Hospital for a medical examination and was diagnosed with stage 3 breast cancer. After the diagnosis, the Ho Chi Minh City Oncology Hospital provided Ms. Hong with oral medication to treat the disease according to the regimen. At the same time, she had to undergo chemotherapy every month. However, during the treatment process, Ms. Hong's illness did not improve but became more severe. Along with that, the disease metastasized to the lungs and some other organs, causing Ms. Hong extreme pain.
Knowing that Ms. Hong has a serious illness, her family and neighbors often comfort and encourage her to try to get treatment. During the treatment process, Ms. Hong has health insurance, but the cost of travel and long-term treatment due to the increasingly severe illness has made her difficult. Currently, Ms. Hong mainly stays in the hospital to receive support for medicine to survive. Therefore, the cost of treatment is increasing, while the family's main source of income is working for hire, which is very unstable. Currently, Ms. Hong's family is in great need of support and sharing from kind-hearted people inside and outside the locality to have more conditions to continue treatment.
