Ba Vi - Son Tay is proposed as a tourist city.

The consulting unit proposed the formation of a tourist city in the capital region of Ba Vi - Son Tay as the development pole of Hanoi and the new tourist center of the Northern region.

The above proposal was made at the Workshop to collect opinions on the development plan of Son Tay town and the districts of Ba Vi, Phuc Tho, and Dan Phuong to integrate into the Hanoi Capital Planning for the period 2021-2030, with a vision to 2050.

Here, the consulting unit believes that the regional connectivity and linkage in the 4 districts and towns is still weak, focusing mainly on National Highway 32. Many projects with driving force and highlights to promote general development have been planned but have not been implemented or formed.

Faced with the remaining problems and "bottlenecks" of the four localities, the unit proposed a general strategic development orientation of exploiting the advantages of National Highway 32 and the support of the Red River, Da River, Thang Long Boulevard corridors... to build a strip of urban tourism and agriculture in the Northwest of the capital.

In addition, attract the development of new functional centers of the economy such as international tourism services, sports and entertainment capitals, knowledge economy... to form areas for tourism and agricultural development associated with urban areas.

Specifically, the unit proposed that the above 4 districts and towns develop concentrated urban areas according to the urban development model associated with public transport (TOD) associated with the formation of a modern, smart transport system, synchronous, attractive urban infrastructure, attracting residents, especially a high-quality, knowledgeable workforce.

The space will develop in association with the formation of important axes of Hanoi including: Red River corridor, Da River corridor, National Highway 32 corridor and West Lake - Ba Vi axis.

In terms of breakthrough, the consulting unit proposed to form a tourist city in the capital region of Ba Vi - Son Tay as the development pole of Hanoi and the new tourist center of the Northern region.

In particular, increasing regional connectivity - proposing an urban railway connecting to Son Tay satellite city and connecting to Ba Vi district tourist center - Tan Vien Son urban area; exploiting the economic, urban, tourism, and agricultural corridor along the Da River - Red River route.

Ba Vi, Son Tay, and Phuc Tho are oriented to develop ecological urban models, resort urban models, and agricultural urban models, while Dan Phuong develops a compact urban model, TOD in the East of Ring Road 4.

From a local perspective, Chairman of Son Tay Town People's Committee Ngo Dinh Ngu said that the important "bottleneck" that the consulting unit needs to address is the environmental issue at Xuan Son landfill and 3 golf courses of Dong Mo Lake.

In this planning, Son Tay hopes to revive the Tich River and Hang River flowing through the town area, as well as Dong Mo Lake and Xuan Khanh Lake, ensuring environmental protection and promoting landscape value.

Along with that, the locality hopes that the city will pay attention to and integrate large tourism projects in the area such as projects at Xuan Khanh Lake, 72 hectares in Kim Son, and around Dong Mo Lake.

At the same time, supplement and develop more tourist spaces on both sides of the Tich River; expand the walking street associated with cultural institutions; the traffic system adds routes 414B, 417, Son Tay Ancient Citadel - Den Va - Phung Hung - Ngo Quyen.
