Excellent planning, solid training, ensuring local security.

Under the leadership of the Party Committee and the Regiment's Command Board, the officers and soldiers of the 717th Regiment's Staff Department consistently play the role of the unit's "command and staff brain," always proactively and creatively providing accurate, timely, and effective advice to the Party Committee and the Regiment's Command Board on military and national defense matters. Annually, the Department develops plans, provides guidance, and organizes practical training, ensuring absolute safety for personnel and equipment. Combat readiness is maintained rigorously; regular military discipline and order are regularly reinforced, contributing to building a strong, comprehensive, and exemplary unit.

Simultaneously, the Staff also effectively coordinated with local Party committees, authorities, and armed forces in accordance with Government Decree No. 03/2019/ND-CP, implementing effective measures to protect security and order in border areas. From 2020 to 2025, the unit organized 222 patrols with over 3,300 personnel, coordinated the verification and exchange of 787 pieces of information related to ethnic and religious security and border security, contributing to effectively preventing infiltration and border crossings, and maintaining sovereignty and security in the project area.

In particular, annual training and refresher courses are organized for the unit's Self-Defense Force, helping them master techniques and tactics, coordinate patrols to protect security and order, and safeguard plantations, rubber products, and other important assets of the Regiment. Coordination between the Self-Defense Force, Militia, and local police is carried out systematically, creating a solid people's security posture and contributing to the stability of the border area.

When the Covid-19 pandemic broke out, the General Staff advised on the establishment of 11 patrol teams and 8 checkpoints for epidemic prevention and control, coordinating closely with the government, police, and health forces to effectively carry out the "dual" task: both combating the epidemic and ensuring security. The image of these "soldiers in green uniforms" patrolling day and night, transporting water and essential supplies to help the people, has become a beautiful image, deeply etched in the hearts of the people in the border region.

Stay close to the people and cultivate a strong foundation of public support.

Not only are they skilled marksmen, the Staff of Regiment 717 also leads in civilian affairs and social welfare work, building a solid "people's support" base on the front lines. The unit coordinates with local Party committees and authorities to organize hundreds of propaganda and mobilization sessions to encourage people to comply with the Party's policies and the State's laws, raise awareness, and actively participate in the movement to protect national security.

Over the past five years, officers and soldiers of the Staff Department, together with the unit, have donated more than 1.3 billion VND to social welfare work; built and donated 30 houses of gratitude, houses for comrades, and houses of solidarity worth nearly 1.9 billion VND; given 299 breeding buffaloes and cows, and provided technical support for livestock farming to poor households; and helped more than 700 local laborers find stable jobs with an average income of 7.5 - 8.5 million VND/month.

Officers and soldiers of the unit actively participate in movements such as "The Army joins hands in building new rural areas," "Joining hands for the poor," and "Joining hands for community health." In addition, every year they participate with the military medical force and other units to organize hundreds of free medical examinations, provide free medicine, and give gifts to policy beneficiary families and ethnic minorities, contributing to strengthening the close relationship between the military and the people.

Within the Staff Department, there are many dedicated and responsible individuals. A prime example is the document and archive staff, who consistently adhere to procedures for receiving, managing, securing, and archiving documents and files, ensuring information is transmitted quickly, accurately, and in accordance with regulations. Though often unassuming, their meticulousness and carefulness have significantly contributed to maintaining the discipline of military administration, effectively supporting leadership and command. Alongside document and archive work, the military personnel responsible for information and cryptography always uphold a high sense of responsibility and dedication to their assigned tasks. Even in the most challenging conditions in the remote border regions, they persevere, ensuring uninterrupted, accurate, and timely communication in all situations, effectively supporting the Regiment's command and control.

The cryptography force strictly adheres to security procedures, managing and using classified documents and messages in accordance with regulations, preventing any negligence or information leaks. Through these silent efforts, the information, cryptography, document, archive, and guard personnel have contributed to strengthening the force and affirming their important position within the collective. With the unity, solidarity, and efforts of individuals, the Staff Department has been awarded the title of "Unit of Victory" for many consecutive years, and is a model collective in the Emulation Movement of the 16th Army Corps.

Shining brightly with the qualities of Uncle Ho's soldiers on the nation's border.

Speaking about the achievements, Lieutenant Colonel Vu Huu Viet, Secretary of the Party Committee and Political Commissar of Regiment 717, affirmed: “The Staff Department is one of the core collectives, clearly demonstrating courage, intelligence, and a high sense of responsibility. Officers and soldiers always uphold the qualities of Uncle Ho's soldiers, proactively providing accurate, timely, and effective advice, making an important contribution to the Regiment's excellent completion of all tasks.”

For the people in the border region, the image of the soldiers from the Staff Department is always familiar and close. Mr. Quach Van Trong, Head of Hamlet 16, Thien Hung Commune, Dong Nai Province, emotionally shared: “The soldiers of Regiment 717, especially the staff officers, have helped the people a lot. When there is a drought, they transport water; when it rains, they help repair houses and clear roads. Thanks to the soldiers, the people here can work and live in peace, their children can go to school, and they have someone to help them when they are sick. The people love the soldiers like family.”

It is this close and unwavering bond between the military and the people that forms the crucial foundation for building a strong people's support base, contributing to the protection of the nation's borders.

In October 2025, the Staff Department was honored to receive a Certificate of Commendation from the People's Committee of Dong Nai province, recognizing it as an exemplary and outstanding collective in the patriotic emulation movement during the 2020-2025 period. This is a prestigious award, affirming the continuous efforts of the officers and soldiers throughout the past period.

On this new path, the Staff of Regiment 717 continues to uphold the tradition of "excellent staff, firm command, strong unity, and strict discipline," innovating thinking, improving the quality of work, and proving itself a reliable support for the Party Committee and the Regiment's Command. And in that remote border region, amidst the sound of the forest wind and the pungent smell of rubber sap, there are still soldiers in green uniforms silently dedicating themselves day and night to ensure that every inch of borderland remains peaceful, and that the people's trust shines brightly on the front lines of the Fatherland.
