Good advice, solid training, ensuring site safety

Under the leadership of the Party Committee and the Regiment Command, the officers and soldiers of the 717 Regiment Staff always promote the role of the "command and advisory brain" of the unit, always proactive, creative, giving correct, accurate and timely advice to the Party Committee and the Regiment Command in military and defense work. Every year, the Board builds plans, guides and organizes practical training, ensuring absolute safety for people and weapons. Combat readiness is strictly maintained; regularity and discipline of the Army are regularly consolidated, contributing to building a strong and comprehensive "exemplary model" unit.

At the same time, the General Staff also performed well the task of coordinating with local Party committees, authorities and armed forces according to Decree No. 03/2019/ND-CP of the Government, effectively implementing measures to protect security and order in border areas. From 2020 to 2025, the unit organized 222 patrols with more than 3,300 people, coordinated verification and exchange of 787 sources of information related to ethnic security, religion and border security, contributing to effectively preventing infiltration and border crossing, maintaining sovereignty and safety in the project area.

In particular, every year, training and fostering are organized for the unit's Self-Defense Force, helping this force master techniques and tactics, coordinate patrols to protect security and order, protect gardens, rubber latex products, and important assets of the Regiment. Coordination between the Self-Defense Force, Militia and local police is carried out in a disciplined manner, creating a solid people's security posture, contributing to stabilizing the situation in the border area.

When the Covid-19 pandemic broke out, the General Staff advised the establishment of 11 patrol teams and 8 checkpoints to prevent and control the epidemic, closely coordinating with the government, police and medical forces, and performing well the "dual" task: both fighting the epidemic and ensuring security. The image of "green-shirt soldiers" patrolling day and night, transporting water and necessities to help people has become a beautiful image, deeply engraved in the hearts of people in border areas.

Sticking with the people, cultivating a strong people's hearts and minds

Not only is the 717 Regiment's Staff a sure shot, it is also a pioneer in mass mobilization and social security work, building a solid "people's heart position" on the front line. The unit coordinated with local Party committees and authorities to organize hundreds of propaganda sessions, mobilizing people to comply with the Party's guidelines and policies and the State's laws, raising awareness and actively participating in the movement to protect national security.

Over the past 5 years, officers and soldiers of the General Staff have, together with the unit, donated more than 1.3 billion VND for social security work; built 30 gratitude houses, comrade houses, and great solidarity houses worth nearly 1.9 billion VND; donated 299 breeding buffaloes and cows, provided technical support for poor households in livestock farming; helped more than 700 local workers have stable jobs with an average income of 7.5 - 8.5 million VND/month.

Officers and soldiers of the Committee actively participate in the movements "Army joins hands to build new countryside", "Join hands for the poor", "Join hands for community health". Along with that, every year, joining with the military medical force and other forces of the unit to organize hundreds of medical examinations, provide free medicine, and give gifts to policy families and ethnic minorities, contributing to strengthening the strong solidarity relationship between the army and the people.

Within the General Staff, there are many dedicated and responsible individuals. Typically, the clerical and archival staff always strictly follow the procedures for receiving, managing, securing and storing documents and records, ensuring that information is transferred quickly, accurately and in accordance with regulations. Although quiet, their meticulousness and carefulness have contributed significantly to maintaining the order of military administrative work, effectively serving the leadership and command work. Along with the clerical and archival work, the military personnel in charge of information and cryptography always uphold the spirit of responsibility and dedication to the assigned tasks. Despite all the difficult conditions in the deep forests of the border, they still persevere to stay, ensuring smooth, accurate and timely communication in all situations, effectively serving the command and operation work of the Regiment.

The cryptographic force strictly implements the procedures for security, management and use of documents and classified information in accordance with regulations, avoiding any negligence or information leakage. From these silent tasks, the information soldiers, cryptographers, clerks, archivists, guards, etc. have contributed to consolidating their strength and affirming their important position in the collective. With the solidarity, consensus and efforts of individuals, the General Staff has been awarded the title of "Determined to Win Unit" for many consecutive years, being a typical collective in the Determined to Win Emulation Movement of the 16th Army Corps.

Speaking about the achievements, Senior Lieutenant Colonel Vu Huu Viet, Party Secretary and Political Commissar of Regiment 717, affirmed: “The General Staff is one of the core groups, clearly demonstrating courage, intelligence and a high sense of responsibility. Officers and soldiers always uphold the qualities of Uncle Ho's soldiers, proactively giving correct, accurate and timely advice, making an important contribution to the Regiment's excellent completion of all tasks.”

For the people in the border areas, the image of the soldiers of the General Staff is always familiar and close. Mr. Quach Van Trong, Head of Hamlet 16, Thien Hung Commune, Dong Nai Province, emotionally shared: “The soldiers of Regiment 717, especially the brothers of the General Staff, help the people a lot. When there is a drought, they carry water, when it rains, they help repair houses and clear roads. Thanks to the soldiers, the people here can work with peace of mind, their children can go to school, and when they are sick, they have someone to help. The people love the soldiers like family.”

It is this close-knit military-civilian relationship that is the important foundation for building a solid people's heart and mind position, contributing to protecting the Fatherland's borders.

In October 2025, the General Staff was honored to receive a Certificate of Merit from the People's Committee of Dong Nai province, as a typical and outstanding collective in the patriotic emulation movement for the period 2020 - 2025. This is a noble award, affirming the continuous efforts of the collective of cadres and soldiers throughout the past journey.

On the new path, the 717th Regiment Staff continues to promote the tradition of "Good staff, strong command, good solidarity, strict discipline", renewing thinking, improving the quality of work, worthy of being a reliable support of the Party Committee and the Regiment Commander. And in that remote border area, amidst the sound of the forest wind and the strong smell of rubber, there are still green-shirted soldiers silently dedicating day and night to keep every inch of the border land peaceful, so that the people's trust always shines brightly on the front line of the Fatherland.
