Discussing the current situation and solutions for developing the river tourism service supply chain in Can Tho city

(CT) - On March 28, 2025, Nam Can Tho University organized a scientific workshop on "Current situation and solutions for developing river tourism service supply chains in Can Tho City". Scientists, leaders of universities, colleges, Mekong Delta Tourism Association and tourism businesses and establishments inside and outside the Mekong Delta region attended the workshop.

The workshop focused on 4 topics: overview of river tourism in Can Tho city according to supply chain linkage, the current situation of organization and operation of agents participating in providing river tourism services, experience in organizing and operating the river tourism supply chain in the world and Vietnam - lessons for Can Tho city, solutions to build a river tourism service supply chain in Can Tho city. There were 5 reports presented at the workshop revolving around the above 4 topics and 23 scientific articles were selected to be published in the proceedings. The workshop synthesized quite fully and comprehensively the issue of developing river tourism in Can Tho city according to supply chain linkage, from the concept of river tourism, the concept of tourism service supply chain to the current situation and solutions to develop river tourism in the direction of supply chain linkage in Can Tho city...

The workshop is a forum for experts and scientists to share information and exchange experiences to apply to the development of river tourism in Can Tho City according to the supply chain linkage. Through this, students, trainees, lecturers of Nam Can Tho University and units interested in developing river tourism can also refer to many useful documents, contributing to making Can Tho City tourism a key economic sector, building the brand and image of Can Tho - a river city.

The workshop is an activity of the city-level science and technology project on "Building a model of river tourism routes according to the service supply chain linkage in Can Tho City" organized and chaired by Nam Can Tho University; Dr. Lawyer Nguyen Tien Dung - Chairman of the University Council of Nam Can Tho University is in charge of the project. The project was officially implemented from May 2024 and will end in October 2026. Up to now, the project has completed the analysis of the current status of river tourism and the river tourism service supply chain in Can Tho City with the main tasks: field survey, information collection, investigation and processing of primary data, writing thematic reports and organizing scientific seminars. In the coming time, the project will implement content 2 on building a model of river tourism service supply chain linkage in Can Tho City and content 3 on promoting and advertising river tourism in Can Tho City...

The results achieved from this scientific workshop will create a basis for the Project Management Board to deploy research contents in the next phase...
