BIDV has not yet ended its relationship with the throne of total assets
By the end of June 2024, 28 banks had announced their second quarter financial reports with total assets reaching more than 17.7 million billion VND.
Except for 3 banksOCB , ABBank and VietABank which recorded negative growth in total assets, most banks recorded total asset growth ranging from 2% - 16%.
ABBank recorded the sharpest decrease, down 6.1% compared to the previous year. Of which, customer loans reached VND89,613 billion, down 7.4% compared to the end of last year. Customer deposits reached VND85,516 billion, down 14.5%.
At the end of the second quarter of 2024, BIDV continued to maintain its leading position in total assets with VND2.52 trillion, up 9.6% compared to the beginning of the year. Of which, customer loans reached VND1.84 trillion, up 5.7% compared to the end of last year.
Vietinbank ranked second with over VND2,160 trillion, up 6.3%. Agribank ranked third with total assets of VND2,080 trillion, up 1.8% compared to 2023 with customer loans of VND1,590 trillion, up 2.6%.
Vietcombank finished last among the four state-owned banks with total assets of over VND1,900 trillion, up 3.6% from the beginning of the year. The bank's customer loans also increased by 8% to over VND1,360 trillion.
BIDV continues to lead in total assets.
On the private banking side, MB continued to lead with total assets increasing 4.6% over the previous year to VND988,605 billion.
Following closely behind MB is Techcombank with total assets increasing by 7% compared to the beginning of the year, reaching VND908,307 billion.
VPBank with a 5.7% increase in total assets to VND864,392 billion ranked 6th. The remaining banks in the top 10 are ACB with total assets of VND769,679 billion; Sacombank with VND717,313 billion in total assets, SHB closed the top 10 with total assets of VND659,767 billion.
Despite having the largest asset growth rate in the period with an increase of 15.6% to VND442,583 billion, LPBank still ranked 12th, after HDBank with total assets of VND624,443 billion.
Agribank is the champion of deposits.
Regarding customer deposits, by the end of the first half of 2024, most banks recorded positive growth from 1% to 21%. Of which, LPBank continued to record the largest increase of 21.4% to VND 288,098 billion.
Next is MSB with total customer deposits of VND 151,743 billion, up nearly 15% over last year.
However, the rapid growth still did not help the above two banks enter the top 10 in the bank deposit ranking in the second quarter of 2024. Specifically, Agribank topped the list with 1.83 million billion VND in deposits, up 0.9% over the previous year.
The big guy BIDV ranked second with total customer deposits increasing by 6% compared to last year to 1.8 quadrillion VND. Ranked third was VietinBank with total deposits increasing by 4% to nearly 1.47 quadrillion VND.
Although deposits decreased slightly by 1.5% compared to 2023 to VND 1,370 trillion, Vietcombank still ranked 4th in the top 10 in terms of bank deposits.
Regarding the private banking group, MB continues to hold the highest position, ranking 5th after Big4 with total deposits increasing by 9% to over 618,600 billion VND. Following is Sacombank with 549,184 billion VND in deposits, up 7.5% compared to the previous year.
The four names at the bottom of the rankings are ACB (VND 511,696 billion), Techcombank (VND 481,860 billion), VPBank (VND 471,349 billion) and SHB (VND 459,296 billion).
During the period, in addition to Vietcombank, 3 other banks had customer deposits decrease compared to the beginning of the year: VietABank, TPBank and ABBank. ABBank is still the bank with the largest decrease of 14.5% to 85,516 billion VND.
