Bac Giang Newspaper meets to celebrate 100 years of Vietnam Revolutionary Press Day June 21

Attending the meeting were leaders of the Provincial Party Committee's Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Department, the Provincial Party Committee Office, the Provincial Journalists Association, the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism; leaders of the Party Committee, the Editorial Board of Bac Giang Newspaper; former Editors-in-Chief, former Deputy Editors-in-Chief of Ha Bac Newspaper, Bac Giang Newspaper; representatives of the families of Vietnamese Heroic Mothers Ta Thi Dac, Hoang Thi Thanh; family of martyr Nguyen Van Ninh, former staff of Ha Bac Newspaper.

Speaking at the meeting, comrade Trinh Van Anh, Provincial Party Committee member, Party Secretary, Editor-in-Chief of Bac Giang Newspaper, Chairman of the Provincial Journalists Association, stated: Exactly a century ago, in Guangzhou, China, Thanh Nien Newspaper - the mouthpiece of the Vietnam Revolutionary Youth Association founded by President Ho Chi Minh published its first issue on June 21, 1925, opening the way for Vietnam's revolutionary journalism. June 21 every year is also the traditional day of the press nationwide.

Through revolutionary periods, overcoming all difficulties and challenges, revolutionary journalism has continuously developed, becoming a sharp weapon on the Party's ideological and cultural front, making important contributions to the cause of national liberation struggle, building and defending the Fatherland.

The Editorial Board of Bac Giang Newspaper pays tribute to former leaders of Ha Bac Newspaper and Bac Giang Newspaper through the periods.

In line with the flow of the country's press, from very early on, progressive intellectuals in the province wanted to establish a newspaper as a means of disseminating knowledge, reflecting life, and awakening patriotism among the people.

In response to the need for propaganda work, in January 1941, the Party Committee of Bac Giang province published the Phuc Quoc newspaper to disseminate the Party's revolutionary policies and guidelines, calling on the masses to prepare for armed uprising. In early 1949, the Provincial Party Committee's Propaganda Committee published the "Internal News" newspaper. In mid-1950, the "Internal News" newspaper merged with "Bac Giang News" and took the name "Bac Giang News".

Implementing the Central Committee's resolution on press work, on November 30, 1961, the Provincial Party Committee Standing Committee issued a resolution to convert the "Tin Bac Giang" newspaper into Song Thuong Newspaper, the predecessor of the current Ha Bac Newspaper and Bac Giang Newspaper.

Over 60 years of establishment and development, Bac Giang Newspaper has always received the attention and leadership of the Provincial Party Committee, People's Council, and Provincial People's Committee; the support and assistance of departments, branches, localities, businesses and readers near and far.

Thanks to that, the journalism team has grown in both quality and quantity. From printing newspapers in black and white, the newspaper now prints all publications in four colors. From only having a printed newspaper, the Bac Giang electronic newspaper in Vietnamese, English and Chinese is now accessed daily by tens of thousands of readers in the province, domestically and internationally.

In particular, promoting the spirit of creativity, daring to think, daring to do, Bac Giang Newspaper boldly innovated the way of making newspapers. In 2014, Bac Giang Newspaper built and operated an "Electronic Newsroom". At the end of 2017, it built a model of "Converged Newsroom", one of the few press agencies in the country to implement at that time. Through this, it contributed to innovating thinking and ways of making newspapers; promoting the advantages of transmitting information on the network environment.

Over the years, the press agency and many reporters, staff and workers have been awarded noble prizes. Many journalists have won prestigious press awards such as the National Press Award, the Golden Hammer and Sickle Award, the Dien Hong Award, etc.

Here, after reviewing the tradition of Vietnamese Revolutionary Journalism, delegates watched a documentary recreating the 63-year journey of building and developing Ha Bac - Bac Giang Newspaper.

At the meeting, the Party Committee and Editorial Board of Bac Giang Newspaper expressed their respect and gratitude to previous generations of journalists who have worked hard to build the tradition of solidarity, creativity, and dedication to the Party and the People of the Party newspaper agency. That is the support and the luggage for Bac Giang journalists to always remember and constantly strive to strive in the next stage.

At the same time, we would like to express our gratitude to the cadres, civil servants and employees who have been working at Bac Giang Newspaper today and Ha Bac Newspaper in the past, who have made efforts and devoted all their heart to providing timely and objective information, contributing to building Bac Giang Newspaper to be more and more professional and modern.

On this occasion, the Editorial Board of Bac Giang Newspaper awarded 8 individuals with outstanding achievements in the emulation movement towards the 100th anniversary of Vietnam Revolutionary Press Day June 21 (1925-2025).
