Ensuring safety at accommodation facilities in Hanoi

Hanoi is a locality with a large number of accommodation establishments, with nearly 3,800 hotels and motels. The quality of accommodation establishments is one of the factors that attract tourists. Therefore, the city has implemented measures to ensure safety and improve the quality of service at these establishments.

On the afternoon of May 26, the Hanoi Department of Tourism held a conference on “Implementing state management of tourist accommodation in Hanoi”, to ensure that business units operate in accordance with regulations on fire prevention and fighting and other regulations.

In 2025, Hanoi tourism will develop strongly. By the end of May 2025, the city welcomed nearly 13 million visitors, an increase of 10.9% over the same period in 2024. Total revenue from tourists is estimated at 51.94 trillion VND, an increase of 14.1%.

Regarding the accommodation system, Hanoi is one of the localities with the largest number of hotels, motels and homestays in the country.

As of May 2025, Hanoi has 3,761 accommodation establishments with more than 71,000 rooms. Of these, 85 hotels and apartment complexes are rated from 1 to 5 stars with a total of 11,965 rooms.

According to information from the Hanoi Department of Tourism, according to the assessment of the digital tourism platform Agoda, in 2025, Asian tourists, including Vietnamese tourists, will increasingly focus on resort tourism activities, family group tourism, and short-term vacation tourism (staycation). Therefore, the Department of Tourism is implementing the program: "Hanoi people and tourists experience services at 4-5 star hotels in Hanoi" focusing on low season and major holidays to attract people and tourists to come and experience tourism in the capital Hanoi.

Along with this activity, Hanoi also promotes the development of MICE tourism (tourism combined with conferences, seminars, and events) through strengthening state management, ensuring the quality of tourism services, and building a safe and friendly tourism environment.

In particular, the work of ensuring fire prevention and fighting safety and rescue, and the implementation of measures to prevent and combat social evils in tourist accommodation establishments are given attention and management is strengthened.

At the conference, representatives of hotels and accommodation establishments in Hanoi listened to the Fire Prevention and Fighting Police (Hanoi City Police) training on conditions and skills in fire prevention, fighting, rescue, and prevention of social evils for accommodation establishments.

On that basis, the units will carry out the above contents in accordance with the regulations of the units they manage, ensuring that tourism accommodation business activities comply with regulations, creating a healthy, civilized and friendly tourism environment. Ensuring fire prevention and fighting safety combined with improving the quality of accommodation services will contribute to bringing Hanoi tourism to the goal of welcoming 31 million visitors in 2025.
