Nghe An Newspaper, Radio and Television won Second Prize in the 2024 Science and Technology Journalism Award

On October 24, in Hanoi, the Ministry of Science and Technology held the award ceremony of the "2024 Science and Technology Journalism Awards". Nghe An Newspaper, Radio and Television was honored to win the second prize with the 5-part special topic "Applying biotechnology to respond to climate change: An urgent requirement".

The 2024 Science and Technology Journalism Awards Ceremony is a recognition by the Ministry of Science and Technology in honoring authors writing about science and technology, innovation and digital transformation who have made efforts, researched, discovered, and reflected the results of the science and technology sector in general, contributing to the development of science and technology in the country in particular.

The award is not only an occasion to honor outstanding journalistic works, but also an opportunity to look back on the past journey, affirming the great values ​​of journalism in the cause of national development, especially in the context of science , technology, innovation and digital transformation becoming strategic pillars for a strong and prosperous Vietnam.

Held since 2012, the award has received the active response and participation of central and local press agencies with more than 8,000 works and groups of works in 5 types of journalism. The Organizing Committee has selected 271 excellent works/groups of works by authors/groups of authors to award the award.

Over the past 10 years, the Science and Technology Journalism Awards have affirmed their role and position as a prestigious and increasingly widespread award, serving as an intellectual playground for reporters and editors interested in science and technology, innovation and digital transformation. Up to now, many localities such as Ho Chi Minh City, Dong Nai, Hue City, Bac Ninh, etc. have also organized science and technology journalism awards, contributing to spreading the role of science and technology communication, innovation and digital transformation more widely.

Following the success of previous years, the 2024 Science and Technology Journalism Award continues to receive the participation of most press agencies at the central and local levels. In 2024, the Organizing Committee received more than 200 works/groups of works from authors and groups of authors. According to the evaluation of the voting council, in general, the works have quite comprehensively reflected all aspects of science and technology activities, innovation and digital transformation, addressing urgent, popular and practical issues of economic and social life. Speaking at the award ceremony, Deputy Minister of Science and Technology Bui Hoang Phuong affirmed: Through press works, society can see a vivid, panoramic picture of the country's science and technology (S&T) activities with many positive changes, demonstrating the strong leadership of the Party, State and Government, along with the clear achievements that S&T has achieved. These results are specifically demonstrated through the strong development of many key sectors and fields such as agriculture, industry, construction, transportation, health, security - defense..., in which there are important imprints of S&T.

In 2024, thousands of news, articles, reports, seminars... reflecting activities in the field of science, technology and innovation were published in central and local media, providing many rich and multi-dimensional perspectives on science and technology.

The Deputy Minister emphasized that, closely following the Party's policies, the National Assembly's resolutions and the Government's direction, in 2025 and the following years, the science and technology sector will continue to synchronously deploy many solutions to turn science, technology and innovation into a new driving force for growth, economic restructuring and international integration. The Ministry of Science and Technology hopes to continue receiving the attention and support of press agencies, journalists and reporters - those who are contributing to spreading knowledge and the desire for innovation in the field of science and technology across the country.

The Ministry of Science and Technology has approved and awarded the 2024 Science and Technology Journalism Awards to 24 journalistic works, including 4 first prizes, 5 second prizes, 5 third prizes and 10 consolation prizes.

In which, Nghe An Newspaper, Radio and Television won second prize with the topic "Applying biotechnology to respond to climate change: An urgent requirement" by the group of authors: Tran Thi Chau Lan, Nguyen Thi Phuc, Nguyen Van Hai and Nguyen Thi Phu Huong.
