In the middle of a line of cars waiting at a red light, two traffic police officers held alcohol measuring devices with funnels to randomly test motorcyclists and car drivers.

At 8 p.m., a traffic police officer stopped a 56-year-old man driving a motorbike erratically and asked him to blow into a breathalyzer. The result was 0.716 mg/L (the maximum is 0.4 mg/L). For this offense, the man will be fined 7 million VND, have his driver's license revoked for 23 months, and have his vehicle impounded for 7 days.

This man said he went to a birthday party so he drank 3 cans, thought he was sober so he rode his motorbike home.

In addition to the above case, the police also recorded a number of cases with extremely high alcohol concentrations.

Specifically, at 8:30 p.m., a 63-year-old man riding a motorbike through the checkpoint was asked to be checked. At that time, the man smelled strongly of alcohol. He blew into the measuring device and the result was 0.910 mg/L. This man admitted that he had drunk alcohol and beer with some people today. However, he said he "knew them" so he needed to be treated lightly.

The violators' vehicles will be impounded for 7 days.

The police repeatedly reminded him and asked him to comply and sign the fine notice. Like the previous man, this man will be fined 7 million VND, have his driver’s license revoked for 23 months, and have his vehicle impounded for 7 days.

The police then issued a ticket to a mason whose blood pressure reading was 0.728 mg/L. Notably, he repeatedly denied drinking alcohol. The police had to measure the man four times before he accepted the result.

The man repeatedly claimed he had no alcohol in his blood.

After a while of working, this person explained that in the afternoon he and some colleagues drank medicinal wine. However, when he drank it, he did not know it was alcohol. "My daily salary is only 400,000 VND but I was fined 7 million VND" - he complained.
