Poll results released on July 30 local time in the US show that Vice President Kamala Harris, who is likely to be the Democratic candidate in the upcoming presidential election, has gained an advantage over her Republican opponent - Mr. Donald Trump, in 6 out of 7 battleground states.
The Bloomberg News/Morning Consult poll, conducted online from July 24 to 28 after President Joe Biden suspended his campaign, showed Ms. Harris leading Mr. Trump in Michigan by 11 percentage points, while the gap in Arizona, Wisconsin and Nevada was 2 percentage points.
Meanwhile, Mr. Trump leads his opponent in Pennsylvania by 4 percentage points and in North Carolina by 2 percentage points. In Georgia, the two sides are neck and neck. Wisconsin is the only state among the seven where Mr. Trump has narrowed the gap with Ms. Harris.
The poll results were released the same day Ms. Harris officially launched a massive $50 million advertising campaign, headlined by a one-minute video titled “Not Afraid.” This is Ms. Harris’s biggest advertising campaign since she gained support within the Democratic Party, after President Biden announced on July 21 that he would stop running for re-election and expressed support for Ms. Harris.
Vice President Kamala Harris will hold her first campaign rally with her new vice presidential nominee on August 6 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, kicking off a four-day campaign trip that will also include Michigan and Arizona.
