The boy in the case of 'paying full amount before receiving emergency treatment' had 100% of hospital fees covered

As reported, on May 3, while playing near his home, MTA was unfortunately run over by a homemade tricycle. Immediately after the accident, the child was taken to Nam Dinh General Hospital for emergency treatment, then transferred to the National Children's Hospital for further treatment.

At the National Children's Hospital, through examination and necessary tests and imaging, doctors determined that the child had bilateral lung parenchyma contusions, right pleural effusion, left diaphragmatic tear causing herniation of the stomach and intestines into the chest, grade 3 left kidney injury, small intestine contusion and retroperitoneal hematoma. The child was quickly resuscitated and underwent surgery to suture the diaphragm, preserve the left kidney, remove the contused intestine, and reconnect the intestines on the night of May 3.

After 5 days of treatment, MTA's health has improved. The child is breathing on his own, is fully alert, communicates well, has normal bowel movements, can digest milk, has normal bowel movements, and has normal left kidney function, so no further intervention is needed.

The National Children's Hospital said that this afternoon, TA was transferred to another department for further monitoring. If the patient continues to progress well, he is expected to be discharged in the next 3-5 days.

Currently, the total cost of treatment for pediatric patient MTA is 22,808,545 VND. All of these costs will be covered by the Health Insurance Fund (according to regulations, pediatric patients are children under 6 years old, with a valid referral paper, the Health Insurance Fund will pay 100% of the treatment costs in the Health Insurance list).

Although there was no call for support, as of 11:00 a.m. on May 7, the amount of money that benefactors had supported MTA patient through the Social Work Department - National Children's Hospital was 171,200,000 VND. Of which, the amount of money that benefactors gave directly to the patient's family was 69,200,000 VND; the amount of money that benefactors transferred/paid to support the patient's family through the hospital's account was 102,000,000 VND). The entire amount of support mentioned above will be handed over by the National Children's Hospital to the family of MTA patient (with a list of benefactors attached), for the family to manage and use.
