Doctor Ho Hoang Vu, who performed the surgery, said that when the patient was admitted to the hospital, only a very thin layer of soft tissue remained attached to the leg, while all the blood vessels, nerves, and other important structures were severed. The foot was purple and completely bloodless.
Immediately, the doctors applied temporary splints, performed urgent tests, and performed emergency surgery. The surgical team quickly treated the damaged bone ends, blood vessels, nerves, and soft tissues. Under a microscope, the doctors reconnected the major arteries, veins, and tendon systems that extended the toes.
After 3 hours of surgery, the patient's legs gradually turned pink again. Currently, the patient is recovering well, can move slightly and the whole body is stable.
This is one of the difficult surgeries that Phu Yen General Hospital has performed recently.
