The Department of Nephrology and Urology of the Provincial General Hospital was established in December 2012, based on the human resources from the Department of General Surgery with a team of experienced doctors and nurses, but the hospital still creates all conditions for the department's human resources to improve their professional qualifications, skills, and develop specialized treatment techniques.
Dr. Ma Ngoc Ba, Head of the Department of Nephrology - Urology, is one of the doctors who was given the opportunity by the hospital to attend short-term and long-term specialized training courses in urology. He said: After attending specialized training courses, he applied and performed a number of complex surgical methods independently such as: Retrograde endoscopic lithotripsy of the ureter, retrograde endoscopic lithotripsy of the kidney with a flexible endoscope, percutaneous lithotripsy with a small tunnel, treatment of diseases, congenital surgery of children... In October 2024, the hospital gave him the opportunity to attend a specialist training course II in Hanoi and by the end of 2025 he will complete the course. According to the plan, after the new headquarters of the Provincial General Hospital is put into use and together with the hospital sending doctors for specialized training in urology and investing in equipment for examination and treatment, the hospital is expected to deploy kidney transplant techniques by 2028.

To improve her professional qualifications, in 2017, she was sent by the Provincial General Hospital to study for a doctorate in cardiology. During her studies and research, she was exposed to modern and advanced treatment methods in cardiology, which helped her improve her expertise and skills, serving the health care work for the people.
To develop specialized techniques, each year the Provincial General Hospital sends hundreds of staff to attend long-term and short-term training courses at upper-level hospitals. At the same time, leading experts are invited to the hospital to transfer techniques in a hands-on manner.
In 2024, the Provincial General Hospital will deploy hepatic artery chemical embolization in cancer treatment.
Training according to the roadmap
The Provincial General Hospital is a Grade I hospital, under the Department of Health . Currently, the hospital has 8 functional rooms, 26 clinical departments, 6 paraclinical departments, providing health care for people in the province and neighboring areas. At the end of 2023, the Hospital will invest in building a new headquarters on an area of 16 hectares, with a total investment of nearly 1,800 billion VND, with a scale of 1,000 beds, including all items according to the standards of a Grade I provincial general hospital.
Currently, the Provincial General Hospital has nearly 700 staff, including nearly 200 doctors. In order to develop human resources with high professional qualifications, the hospital has proactively developed a plan with a human resource training roadmap for the next 5 years (2025 - 2030). In particular, focusing on developing high-level expertise in many fields with the number of human resources expected to be sent for training at doctoral, master's, university, specialist I, specialist II levels of nearly 100 people. In 2025, it is expected that about 60 doctors and medical staff will be trained and improved their professional qualifications.
Dr. Nguyen Hung Dao, Director of the Provincial General Hospital, said: “The hospital has developed a specific roadmap for the number of human resources sent for training each year. With domestically trained human resources, if there is financial support from the Provincial People's Committee, we will follow the plan to meet the medical examination and treatment needs of the people as the true end-line hospital of the province.”
