Diagnosed with cancer, Cong angrily declared he needed no pity.

In episode 48 of "Our Family's Unexpected Joy," Ha (Lan Phuong) is delighted that Danh and his wife have moved back home. She helps the younger siblings rearrange their belongings in their room and says to Tram Anh (Kha Ngan): "It's so good that you're home. I've been so bored staying home alone these past few days. Now that you're here, you can share my boredom with me."

Tram Anh and Danh move back home in episode 48 of "Our Family Has a Sudden Happy Moment".

Tram Anh teased her sister-in-law: "I thought you'd like it when we moved out and the house was bigger. That was your dream, wasn't it? Are you bored now?" Ha said that she initially thought she'd be happy, but when things turned out exactly as she wished, she didn't feel happy at all. Ha cleverly noticed that her sister-in-law said "we," which indicated that Tram Anh and Danh (Thanh Son) had reconciled and returned home together.

Meanwhile, news of Cong's stage 3 cancer diagnosis caused his two younger brothers great anxiety. The three of them met at a pub. Thanh (Doan Quoc Dam) inquired about his brother's health, telling him to tell them what was wrong so they could plan accordingly. Cong snapped, "Plan what? Plan for treatment costs or funeral arrangements?"

Thanh and Danh inquired about Cong's health so they could make arrangements.

Thanh encouraged him: " Do you think it's that easy to die? There are many types of cancer, and many people recover. You look so carefree, you're not going to die anytime soon, cheer up!"

Cong shouted even louder, "Do I need your pity?" Thanh didn't understand where his words showed any pity. However, Cong insisted it was pity and said this was why he hated sharing his cancer diagnosis with his family.

Phuong's parents were heartbroken at the thought of their daughter being lonely in her old age.

Back home, Phuong (Kieu Anh) talks to her mother. She says she will live the rest of her days peacefully. Seeing her parents sad, Phuong feels heartbroken and like an unfilial child. Phuong's mother sheds tears, saying that they are worried about their daughter: " Just thinking about how lonely you will be in your old age, I can't bear it." At this moment, Phuong's father (People's Artist Cong Ly) quietly stands outside, listening to the conversation between mother and daughter.

Also in episode 48, while Cong was resting, Long ran into the room. Long gave Cong the parent-teacher meeting invitation, begging him for help.
