On December 15th, in Hanoi, the Vietnam National Energy and Industry Corporation ( Petrovietnam ) held a meeting with the Vietnam Post and Telecommunications Group (VNPT) and Qualcomm, a leading American technology corporation, to discuss cooperation in digital technology in the energy sector, particularly in artificial intelligence (AI), the Internet of Things (IoT), and digital infrastructure to support the Corporation's digital transformation.

Attending the meeting, on the Petrovietnam side were Mr. Le Ngoc Son - General Director; Mr. Phan Tu Giang - Deputy General Director; and leaders of the Group's specialized departments. On the VNPT side were Mr. Huynh Quang Liem - General Director; Mr. Ngo Dien Hy - Deputy General Director; and leaders of the Science and Technology, Digital Transformation, and International Cooperation departments.
Representing Qualcomm were Mr. Suri Maddhula - Vice President of IoT Solutions Product Management; Mr. Dev Singh - Vice President of Business Development; and representatives from the leadership of various departments/offices responsible for the Vietnamese market.

Mr. Le Ngoc Anh, Deputy Head of the Science, Technology and Digital Transformation Department of Petrovietnam, presented a report at the meeting.
The meeting took place in the context of Petrovietnam accelerating the implementation of its digital transformation strategy, gradually mastering foundational technologies, and aiming to build a modern, efficient industrial and energy group operating on the basis of data and digital technology applications.
Speaking at the meeting, Petrovietnam General Director Le Ngoc Son emphasized that the application of science and technology and digital transformation are essential requirements in the context of the energy industry facing many new challenges and opportunities, especially during the period when Petrovietnam aims to enter the Top 500 largest enterprises in the world. Strengthening the application of digital technologies, especially AI and IoT, is identified as a crucial solution to improve management capacity, optimize production and business operations, and enhance operational efficiency throughout the Group.

In this context, Petrovietnam clearly defines its goal of gradually mastering core technologies such as AI, Digital Twin, IoT, and high-performance computing (HPC), closely linked to the production practices of the energy and industrial sectors, especially in the exploration, exploitation, processing, refining, petrochemicals, electricity, and gas industries.
Based on Petrovietnam's technology strategy until 2030, with a vision to 2050, AI and IoT are identified as priority technologies, playing a central role in building smart energy enterprises that operate based on data and automation. Petrovietnam is simultaneously implementing the following pillars: building a unified data platform, developing private cloud computing and HPC infrastructure, strengthening cybersecurity for IT/OT systems, and integrating AI into core operations in the energy sector.

On behalf of the Group's leadership, Petrovietnam General Director Le Ngoc Son expressed his hope that, through enhanced cooperation with major technology partners such as Qualcomm and VNPT, Petrovietnam could seek opportunities for collaboration, improve the efficiency of digital transformation, apply science and technology, and gradually build a modern, synchronized digital technology platform suitable to the Group's specific operations. This would enhance the effectiveness of digital transformation implementation and the ability to replicate application models throughout the entire system.
During the meeting, the parties discussed the possibility of cooperation in researching and applying advanced technological solutions suitable to Petrovietnam's specific operations, and shared experiences in implementing digital transformation at large corporations and businesses worldwide. VNPT was assessed as a partner with strengths in digital infrastructure and operational system integration, while Qualcomm has extensive experience in providing technology platforms for various industrial sectors.

In addition, Petrovietnam also expressed its interest in developing digital human resources and ensuring information security and safety during the digitalization process, thereby creating a solid foundation for the innovation of management and business production models.
At the end of the meeting, the parties agreed to continue exchanging views and researching specific cooperation directions that are consistent with Petrovietnam's development strategy in the coming period. The meeting reaffirmed Petrovietnam's determination to proactively approach, master, and apply advanced digital technologies, thereby creating a foundation for the transformation from a traditional oil and gas enterprise to a smart, modern, and sustainably developing industrial and energy group in the new era.
