At the Cashless Day 2025 event taking place in Ho Chi Minh City, sharing the benefits of cashless payments, BIDV said that digital payments bring significant environmental benefits compared to cash transactions, thanks to reducing resources and limiting polluting activities.

3 Key Reasons Cashless Payments Are an Eco-Friendly Solution

According to BIDV, there are 3 main reasons for paying 'rescue' loans for the environment.

First, it saves resources. Producing cash, especially banknotes, requires the use of resources such as paper, metal, water, and energy. In addition, this process also emits CO₂ and other emissions from the production, printing, and transportation of cash. By reducing the need for cash, cashless transactions save natural resources and reduce emissions from these processes. Meanwhile, cashless transactions are mainly conducted electronically, saving energy and reducing fuel use.

Second, reduce waste. Cash has a certain lifespan and must be destroyed when it cannot be used, creating waste and requiring complex processing procedures. Meanwhile, cashless transactions through phone applications or bank cards help limit the creation of waste from destroying cash, contributing to environmental protection.

Third, promote sustainable solutions in the banking sector. With the development of digital banking services and electronic payment ecosystems, banks can actively support environmentally friendly activities such as supporting customers to pay electronic bills, reducing the printing of transaction documents, and encouraging the use of electronic bills.

Efforts to contribute to national digital transformation

Currently, over 80% of BIDV's corporate customers have used services via digital channels, demonstrating the effectiveness and trust from the business community.

In addition, with thorough investment in infrastructure, technology and human resources, BIDV is realizing its commitment to contribute to the implementation of digital transformation goals in the banking industry.

With a solid technology foundation, high autonomy and a spirit of continuous innovation, BIDV is ready to continue to accompany customers, the banking industry and the country on the journey to build a digital Vietnam in the future.
