(GLO) - In the Central-Central Highlands region, Binh Dinh Tunnel Brick Joint Stock Company (BITCO) is one of the pioneering units in transforming its production model, investing in technology, and contributing to changing perceptions of non-fired building materials.

Actively adopt new technologies.

Over 20 years ago, BITCO was established and produced fired clay bricks using tunnel kiln technology. This method increasingly revealed many limitations such as high production costs, environmental pollution, and dependence on increasingly depleted clay resources.

Since 2014, the company has shifted its focus to investing in the first phase of a non-fired brick production project with a cement-based non-fired brick production line. In 2018, BITCO further invested nearly 110 billion VND in a production line for AAC (Autoclaved Aerated Concrete) lightweight concrete bricks using German technology. This is an advanced, environmentally friendly technology with sound insulation, heat insulation, fire resistance, and faster construction capabilities.

AAC bricks are manufactured from sand or fly ash, cement, lime, aluminum powder, gypsum, and water. The product is autoclaved in a steam boiler system, eliminating the need for clay and coal in firing, thus saving on raw materials. Produced using autoclaved aerated concrete technology, the product reduces environmental waste by over 30%, consumes 60% less energy, and reduces greenhouse gas emissions by over 55% compared to traditional bricks.

In early 2023, BITCO continued to invest in the production of ALC panels with steel cores. This product aligns with modern construction trends, meeting high technical requirements for lightweight, sound insulation, thermal insulation, and fire resistance up to 4 hours. Currently, BITCO is one of only five domestic factories capable of producing ALC panels, and the only unit in Central and Western Vietnam with the technology to produce autoclaved aerated concrete (AAC) non-fired bricks.

Mr. Tran Manh Hung, Director of BITCO, stated: "The company is a pioneer in the province in investing in a comprehensive system of equipment using German technology to implement Decision No. 567/QD-TTg of the Prime Minister on the strategy for developing non-fired building materials until 2025 and with a vision to 2030. Our AAC autoclaved aerated concrete (AAC) bricks and ALC panels have one or two steel cores, a length of 1.2 - 4 m, a weight of approximately 600 kg/m³, are easy to install, waterproof, soundproof, and fire-resistant. The products meet TCVN 7959 - 2017 and TCVN 12867 - 2020 standards. BITCO's AAC bricks have been certified by a specialized agency of the Ministry of Public Security for fire resistance up to 4 hours."

Overcoming market barriers, spreading green building materials.

Despite investing in synchronized equipment, modern technology, and a systematic production process, and possessing many advantages and outstanding characteristics, BITCO still faces many difficulties in sales. One of the major obstacles is the consumer's continued preference for traditional fired bricks, their hesitation towards new materials, and the unfamiliarity of construction techniques for these new materials among builders. Furthermore, consultants, architects, and investors are not yet confident in incorporating non-fired building materials using autoclaved aerated concrete technology into local construction projects. Currently, the company mainly supplies products to some locations outside the province, such as Da Nang and Hue.

Currently, only 5 enterprises nationwide continue to produce AAC bricks, with BITCO being the sole producer in the Central and Central Highlands regions. To overcome market barriers, BITCO not only manufactures materials but also directly provides turnkey construction solutions to investors, while also collaborating with other enterprises in the same field to expand its market share.

One of the units effectively cooperating with BITCO is TMN Construction and Trading Co., Ltd. (Quy Nhon Nam Ward). Mr. Le Phuong, Chairman of the Board of Members of TMN Construction and Trading Co., Ltd., said: In the context of construction projects increasingly focusing on construction time and reasonable costs, ALC panels with steel cores are a suitable choice. The collaboration between BITCO and TMN in implementing projects using lightweight materials has helped many customers and investors trust and show interest in this new type of material.

From 2020 to the present, BITCO has consistently received the Outstanding Rural Industrial Product Award from the Ministry of Industry and Trade ; and has been awarded the High-Quality Vietnamese Product title for 10 consecutive years. These achievements are a recognition of the company's continuous efforts in improving product quality and achieving sustainable development.
