Accordingly, this circular stipulates the roadmap for applying the blending ratio of biofuels with traditional fuels in Vietnam, specifically stipulating the blending and mixing ratio of biofuels with traditional fuels, the roadmap for applying the blending and mixing ratio, and using biofuel for gasoline engines.
Regarding the subjects of application, this circular applies to petroleum traders; organizations and individuals producing, importing, mixing, blending, and trading biofuels and biogasoline; and other relevant agencies, organizations, and individuals in Vietnam.

From June 1, 2026, unleaded gasoline (according to current national technical regulations) must be blended and prepared into E10 gasoline for use in gasoline engines nationwide. Illustrative photo
In addition, the ratio of biodiesel fuel blending with diesel fuel used for diesel engines is not mandatory. The ratio of biodiesel fuel blending with traditional fuels is also not applicable to fuels used in the aviation industry and special gasoline and oil for functional units to serve security and defense purposes as prescribed by competent authorities.
According to Circular 50, biofuels are base biofuels including denatured or undenatured fuel ethanol (E100) and base biodiesel fuel (B100). Traditional fuels are unleaded gasoline (base gasoline) including RON92, RON95, other types of unleaded gasoline or diesel fuel (DO) with quality in accordance with the provisions of law.
Bio-fuel in this circular is a mixture of fuel ethanol and base gasoline including E5RON92 gasoline and E10 gasoline. Blending and blending bio-fuel is the addition of E100 in different proportions to base gasoline using in-tank and in-line mixing and blending methods or other suitable blending and blending methods.
Diesel B10 is a mixture of DO and B100, with a B100 content of 9% to 10% by volume, denoted as B10. Blending and blending biodiesel is the process of adding B100 to DO in different proportions according to the in-tank and in-line mixing and blending methods or other suitable mixing and blending methods.
Circular 50 also clearly states the roadmap for applying the blending ratio of biofuels and traditional fuels. Accordingly, from June 1, 2026, unleaded gasoline (according to current national technical regulations) must be blended and prepared into E10 gasoline for use in gasoline engines nationwide.
In addition, continue to blend and mix E5RON92 gasoline for use in gasoline engines until December 31, 2030.
“ In the process of implementing the roadmap for applying the blending ratio of biofuels with traditional fuels, based on the actual situation of economy, society, technique, technology, supply, demand, prices and other related fluctuations, the Minister of Industry and Trade shall consider and decide to adjust the blending ratio of biofuels with traditional fuels, supplement the types of gasoline products traded on the market appropriately to ensure the goals of energy security, environmental protection and protection of consumer rights ”, Circular 50 pointed out.
During the time when the use of biodiesel B5 and B10 for diesel engines is not yet mandatory, organizations and individuals are encouraged to participate in the production, mixing, blending, trading and use of biodiesel B5 and B10.
