The Ministry of Education and Training requires its affiliated units and Departments of Education and Training to step up propaganda and dissemination of the law to staff, teachers, students and pupils to avoid being scammed.

Schools must educate staff, employees, and students to strictly implement regulations on cyber security and be vigilant against the methods and tricks of criminals using high technology, taking advantage of cyberspace to appropriate property, especially tricks of enticing and luring students, educational administrators, and teachers to open bank accounts and mobile phone subscriptions to commit illegal acts.

Previously, a parent in Ho Chi Minh City lost 10 million VND in his account because a scammer, claiming to be a school employee, informed him that his child's high school graduation exam registration information was incorrect.

The scammer asked for an urgent update of the citizen identification card to supplement the file and then instructed the parent to call a phone number for support. Worried about her child, the parent did as instructed and lost money in the account.

Over the past few days, parents have also been spreading information about being vigilant against criminals creating websites and social media accounts impersonating universities and training centers to advertise military summer camp courses/semesters for children in order to approach parents to entice them to deposit money and appropriate property.

Parents are advised to carefully research information about the organizing units before registering to participate. If signs of fraud or property appropriation are detected, they should promptly report to the police.
