Tanzanian Minister of Foreign Affairs and East African Cooperation visits Vietnam and attends April 30th celebration

At the invitation of Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Bui Thanh Son, Minister of Foreign Affairs and East African Cooperation of the United Republic of Tanzania Mahmoud Thabit Kombo will pay an official visit to Vietnam and attend the celebration of the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification from April 26 to May 2.

The above information was announced by Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Pham Thu Hang at a regular press conference on the afternoon of April 24.

Spokesperson Pham Thu Hang said the visit took place in the context of the two countries celebrating the 60th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations (February 14, 1965 - February 14, 2025), thereby contributing to strengthening the traditional friendship between the two countries maintained on both Party and State channels.

In terms of diplomacy , the two sides regularly exchange delegations at all levels and coordinate and support each other at multilateral forums.

Regarding investment cooperation, Viettel Group's HALOTEL telecommunications joint venture is highly appreciated by Tanzania. Trade, agricultural, and information and communication cooperation between the two countries has made much progress.

According to Ms. Pham Thu Hang, during this visit, Minister of Foreign Affairs and East African Cooperation Mahmoud Thabit Kombo will hold talks with Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Bui Thanh Son, meet with senior Vietnamese leaders, as well as have working sessions with a number of Vietnamese ministries and branches and many other important activities.

Vietnam and Tanzania established diplomatic relations on February 14, 1965. The two countries have a long-standing traditional friendship, built and developed by leaders of the two countries such as President Ho Chi Minh and President Julius Nyerere.
