"Pocket" the way to deposit savings to earn the highest interest rate

Banks usually have only two interest rates: at the counter and online. To attract more VIP customers to deposit money, some banks apply a margin of interest depending on the deposit amount. This policy is often applied by banks for both at the counter and online deposits.

VPBank, Techcombank,ACB , VIB, LPBank, DongA Bank have separate interest rate policies for VIP customers.

At VPBank , interest rates are divided into 4 different levels: under 1 billion VND, from 1-3 billion VND, from 3-10 billion VND and from 10 billion VND or more.

VPBank applies interest rates for deposits under 1 billion VND with a term of 1-2 months of 4.4%/year, a term of 3-5 months of 4.45%/year, a term of 6-11 months of 5.5%/year, a term of 12-13 months of 5.8%/year, and a term of 15-36 months of only 5.1%/year.

For each savings book corresponding to the increasing deposit amount, VPBank will add 0.1%/year for the depositor. Accordingly, the highest announced interest rate for 6-11 month term deposits at VPBank is 5.8%/year if depositing from 10 billion VND or more.

However, customers who prioritize savings with a minimum balance of 100 million VND and a minimum term of 1 month will also receive an additional 0.1%/year. Therefore, the highest interest rate at this bank is 5.9%/year.

At Techcombank , the bank applies 3 different interest rates for 3 deposit levels under 1 billion VND; from 1-3 billion VND and from 3 billion VND or more. The interest rate margins are 0.1%/year in ascending order.

In addition, from June 1 to December 31, Techcombank will add an interest rate of 0.3%/year to the first deposit, with a term of 6 months or more. The actual interest rate that depositors receive after the addition is up to 6.4%/year.

At VIB Bank, online deposit interest rates for 6-36 month terms also differ depending on the deposit amount under 300 million VND and from 300 million VND or more.

For deposits under 300 million VND, the interest rate for 6-11 month term is 5.6%/year, 15-18 month term is 6.2%/year and 24-36 month term is 6.4%/year.

Depositors receive an additional interest rate of 0.1%/year if the deposit amount is 300 million VND or more.

Not only that, VIB also adds an interest rate of 0.4%/year for Diamond customers and 0.2%/year for iBusiness and Sapphire customers with a term of 6-11 months.

With 6-12 month online deposits at ACB, the bank only pays interest rate of 5.6%/year for deposits under 100 million VND.

Interest rates will be 5.7%/year for customers depositing from 100 million VND to under 1 billion VND; 5.75%/year for customers depositing from 1 billion VND to under 5 billion VND and 5.8%/year for deposits from 5 billion VND or more.

At LPBank, the interest rate for 13-month deposits at the counter with interest paid at the end of the term is 6.4%/year. However, for deposits of 300 billion VND or more, the interest rate is increased by 0.5%/year to 6.9%/year (0.3%/year higher than the online interest rate).

Meanwhile, the interest rate margin for 6, 12 and 13-month terms at DongA Bank is increased by 0.7%/year for customers with deposits from 200 million VND to under 500 million VND; increased by 0.75%/year for customers with deposits from 500 million VND to under 1 billion VND.

The bank adds 0.8%/year for deposits from 1 billion VND to under 5 billion VND; 0.85% for deposits from 5 billion VND to under 10 billion VND; and adds 0.9%/year for deposits from 10 billion VND or more.
