Speaking at the donation ceremony, Mr. Nguyen Van Khoa - General Director of FPT Corporation expressed: "We respectfully donate 500,000 doses of measles vaccine to accompany the Ministry of Health in the third vaccination campaign. We expect this contribution will help the vaccination rate of two doses of measles vaccine exceed 95%, towards achieving community immunity, preventing the risk of widespread epidemics."
Previously, the Ministry of Health urgently developed and issued Decision No. 1340/QD-BYT dated April 21, 2025 on the plan to implement the 3rd measles vaccination campaign in 2025. The vaccine used in this vaccination campaign is 500,000 doses of measles vaccine sponsored by FPT Corporation. It is expected that the first vaccine allocation will be completed before April 30, 2025 and the second before May 15, 2025. The Ministry of Health will immediately allocate vaccines to localities to promptly implement the vaccination campaign.
In response to the World Health Organization's warning of the risk of a measles outbreak in Vietnam and the actual developments of the epidemic situation in localities, determining that vaccination is the most effective proactive disease prevention measure, in late 2024 and early 2025, the Ministry of Health organized two vaccination campaigns to prevent and control measles.
Accordingly, the 2024 campaign achieved 97.1% and the first phase of the 2025 campaign achieved 95.5%, with the initial implementation target being children from 1 to 10 years old and high-risk groups, then expanding the implementation target to children from 6 months to 9 months old in risk areas and areas where measles cases/measles outbreaks are occurring.
On March 15, 2025, the Prime Minister issued Official Dispatch No. 23/CD-TTg on accelerating vaccination against measles. Implementing the Prime Minister's direction, the Ministry of Health issued a plan to implement the second phase of the 2025 campaign and achieved a result of 96.4%, continuing to implement it for the target group of children from 6 months to 9 months old and children from 1 year to 10 years old.
Results after implementing measles vaccination campaigns, compared to the first 3 months of 2025, the measles incidence rate has begun to decrease in the group from 1 to 10 years old; decreased slightly in the group under 1 year old, but increased by 6.4% in the group over 10 years old.
