Overcoming fate
Ms. Nguyen Thi Cam Nhung (56 years old) is originally from An Giang, currently living in Binh Duong. With a congenital hearing and speaking disability, Ms. Nhung is almost silent in the midst of a busy life. Unable to communicate verbally like many people, the only way she can connect with the world is through her eyes - a silent language that contains many emotions, thoughts and a strong desire to live.
However, that light gradually faded when both her eyes developed cataracts and corneal scars, causing her vision to decline severely. With her right eye only able to distinguish dim light within about 1 meter, and her left eye almost unable to sense light, she lived quietly in a dark world, where her eyes - her last means of communication - gradually became powerless.
It was the fear of living the rest of her life in darkness that prompted Ms. Nhung to seek treatment. Through an acquaintance's introduction, she learned about Ngo Gia Tu Saigon Eye and decided to visit and consult for surgery. Despite many barriers in communication, she still persistently clung to hope - that she could see the world again.

Master, Doctor Nguyen Phu Tung, Director of Saigon Eye Hospital and Professional Director Ngo Gia Tu directly examined and performed surgery on Ms. Nhung.
With Ms. Nhung's special condition, Saigon Eye Doctor Ngo Gia Tu determined that this would be a challenging surgery because during the surgery, Ms. Nhung would not be able to cooperate like a normal patient: she would not be able to hear instructions, nor speak to respond. Therefore, the doctor had to carefully observe every little reaction of hers, every movement of her eyeballs to adjust the operation precisely.
When the light returns thanks to the determination of patients and medical staff
Master, Doctor Nguyen Phu Tung, Director of Saigon Eye Hospital and Director of Ngo Gia Tu Eye, who directly performed the surgery, added: "This is a very difficult surgery because the patient cannot hear, cannot speak, and his eyes constantly move due to reflexes. You have to be really patient, gentle, and experienced to be able to complete it well."
With the dedication of a team of experienced doctors and the support of a modern equipment system, Ms. Nhung's surgery went smoothly and brought positive results. She also received partial financial support from Ngo Gia Tu Saigon Eye - a meaningful sharing with her special circumstances.

Joy returned to Mrs. Nhung and her family on the day of re-examination.
After the surgery, her vision improved significantly, making daily activities easier and safer. For a deaf person like Ms. Nhung, the eyes are not only for seeing but also the "only door" to connect with the world - from recognizing gestures and expressions of others to moving and taking care of herself. The return of light is not only a restoration of vision, but also a spiritual revival - a priceless gift for Ms. Nhung and her family.
Cataracts are one of the leading causes of blindness in older adults, but can be effectively treated if detected during the “golden hour”. Timely diagnosis and surgery will give patients the best chance of restoring optimal vision.
"After more than 21 years of development, Saigon Ngo Gia Tu Eye is not only a place where people in Ho Chi Minh City and neighboring provinces trust and choose, but also a dedicated companion on the journey of vision care. With a commitment to providing quality and safe medical services, we are proud to share the trust of many patients with special circumstances, including Ms. Nhung", the hospital representative emphasized.
