On the slopes of Di Linh, every morning, people choose bunches of red fruit to pick organically grown coffee beans, fertilized with compost, natural spring water, and soil-friendly farming methods. For Nguyen Thanh Tai, who has been working with coffee for more than two decades, switching to organic farming was initially a hesitant step because of the high cost and the need for care. But the looser soil, healthier plants, and rich, clean coffee aroma gave him the answer. “It’s hard but worth it, because I’m doing something kind to the soil,” he said.
In Nam Nung, Mr. Y Thanh’s family handpicks each ripe fruit to supply to businesses processing honey coffee and specialty coffee. These meticulous steps create the rich flavor of Lam Dong coffee – where farmers and cooperatives link up with businesses to bring products to demanding markets such as Japan and Europe.

The granting of geographical indication marks an important milestone in the journey to elevate the Lam Dong coffee brand. The geographical indication “Lam Dong Coffee” is granted to two lines of arabica and robusta in the form of green coffee, roasted beans and ground coffee. The Department of Agriculture and Environment is assigned to manage geographical indications, ensuring that production areas, technical processes and quality standards are strictly followed.
According to the leader of Lam Dong Provincial People's Committee, protecting geographical indications is not only a recognition of quality but also opens up opportunities to form sustainable value chains, promote organic farming, traceability, increase deep processing capacity and expand export markets. This is an important driving force for the local coffee industry to make a stronger breakthrough in the coming years.

Lam Dong currently has 327,000 hectares of coffee, accounting for more than 45% of the country's area; the output in 2025 is estimated to reach over 1 million tons, equivalent to more than 50% of Vietnam's coffee output. The province has 6 high-tech coffee production areas with a total area of more than 2,268 hectares and more than 1,400 households participating in the association.
With its officially protected “title”, Lam Dong coffee not only strengthens the domestic market but also expands export opportunities, becoming an agricultural symbol of the Central Highlands, where each coffee bean carries the story of the people, the land and the aspirations of the sunny and windy highlands.
