(NLDO)- Female officers of the Vietnam Peacekeeping Police Unit No. 1 participated in a parade at Hoan Kiem Lake area on the morning of March 8.
The parade took place with the participation of 1,000 members of the Women's Associations of the Public Security Forces at units and localities, delegates from inside and outside the People's Public Security force, and international guests, as part of a series of activities to celebrate the 77th anniversary of the People's Public Security studying and implementing Uncle Ho's Six Teachings (March 11, 1948 - March 11, 2025), the 80th anniversary of the People's Public Security Traditional Day (August 19, 1945 - August 19, 2025) and the 20th anniversary of the National Day for National Security Protection (August 19, 2005 - August 19, 2025).

Vietnam Peacekeeping Police Unit No. 1, established in January 2024, is the first model of the Ministry of Public Security to deploy an armed police unit, gathering forces from police units nationwide.
According to the announcement of the Police Department, United Nations Department of Peace Operations, Vietnam's Peacekeeping Police Unit No. 1 has been upgraded to level 2 in the United Nations Peacekeeping Readiness System from August 29, 2024.
Vietnam Peacekeeping Police Unit No. 1 (VNFPU1) currently has 190 members. The commander is Lieutenant Colonel Luong Thi Tra Vinh - the first female police officer to join the Peacekeeping force, and 2 Deputy Commanders. The unit includes: Operations Department, Political - Logistics Department (communications, administration and personnel, field hospital, weapons, vehicles, electricity and water, kitchen, etc.); 4 combat teams: Patrol, special forces; Control station, target protection; Security and order, crowd dispersal; VIP protection, special cargo protection.

Previously, on the afternoon of March 7, female officers of the Vietnam Peacekeeping Police Unit No. 1 attended the international workshop "Enhancing capacity and enhancing women's participation in law enforcement", organized by the Vietnamese Ministry of Public Security in coordination with the United Nations Entity for Gender Equality and the Empowerment of Women (UN Women) in Vietnam.
Ms. Caroline Nyamayemombe, Chief Representative of UN Women, highly appreciated the participation of women in the People's Public Security force in law enforcement, especially the contributions of female People's Public Security officers participating in the United Nations Peacekeeping force.
The workshop is a forum for experts and speakers in the police force and partner countries to share and exchange experiences; and seek solutions to promote the role, potential and increase the participation of women and female leaders in the police force.

Attending the workshop, Senior Lieutenant Colonel Luong Thi Tra Vinh, Commander of VNFPU1, shared the challenges, difficulties and practical experiences of women in the field of law enforcement when participating in the United Nations Peacekeeping Force in South Sudan.
In his closing speech at the workshop, Senior Lieutenant General Tran Quoc To, member of the Party Central Committee and Deputy Minister of Public Security, requested units to continue to proactively research, develop and promulgate policies and mechanisms to create new breakthroughs in women's work and gender equality. It is necessary to continue expanding international cooperation, coordinating and sharing experiences and lessons on successful models and new initiatives in law enforcement; at the same time, developing training and coaching programs for women in the People's Public Security, especially training female officers participating in the United Nations Peacekeeping Force.
