Recently, many videos have appeared on TikTok sharing how people use Google Maps to view photos of their homes from years ago. These videos often evoke feelings of nostalgia and emotion, making viewers curious and wanting to try it themselves.
However, alongside these enjoyable experiences, many users feel anxious when they discover images of themselves or their families appearing on Google Maps, especially private moments.
If users want to delete photos they've uploaded to Google Maps, here's a simple way to do it.
Delete photos/videos in the Google Maps app.
To find content you've shared on Google Maps, first open the app, then tap the contribute icon and view your contributed content.
Select the photo or video you want to delete. In the top right corner, tap the delete icon.
According to Google, photos/videos deleted from Google Maps will not be automatically deleted from Google Photos (if backup and sync is enabled) or Google Drive (if sync is enabled).
Images that have been removed from Google Maps are automatically removed from Google Search.

On your phone, select the contribute icon on Google Maps to view and delete contributed content.

On a computer, click the three-bar icon, then select "Your Contributions" to delete uploaded photos.
Report photos/videos on Google Maps
Google notes that to prevent policy violations on Google Maps, the platform moderates user content. Any detected violations are reviewed and removed.
If users see any inappropriate or inaccurate content on Google Maps, they can report it.
To report a location, users find a location or tap on it on the map. Navigate to the photos section, then select the photo/video they want to report. In the upper right corner, tap the Report icon, then select or write the reason for reporting.
However, it has been noted that these reports are not processed immediately, unlike when users proactively delete uploaded images.

Find the location and navigate to the photos section, then select the photo/video you want to report.

Enter the information as instructed to submit the report.
