New ways bring new look to the countryside

After nearly 5 years of building and implementing the model "Peaceful parish, ensuring security and order and joining hands to build new rural areas" in My Chanh hamlet, Hai Chanh commune, Hai Lang district, it has brought positive results. The model contributes to stabilizing the security and order situation in the area and effectively implementing the campaign "All people unite to build new rural areas".

Cang My Chanh is home to 42 households with nearly 250 people, of which 100% are Catholic. The economic life of the people in the area still faces many difficulties, the labor force is mainly young people who work far from home, only returning home to reunite with their families during the Lunar New Year. This is also the time when the security and order situation has complicated developments.

To stabilize the security and order situation in My Chanh area, in August 2019, Hai Lang District Police presided over and coordinated with the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Hai Lang District and Hai Chanh Commune Police to launch the model of "Peaceful parish, ensuring security and order and joining hands to build a new rural area". The model's activities are based on the voluntary spirit of Catholics in the area with the motto of building a life of "Good life, good religion - respecting God, loving the country" and "Good Catholics are good citizens"...

Implementing the model, the great national unity bloc in residential areas has been consolidated, the material and spiritual life of Catholics in the area has been further improved. The work of caring for poor households and households with special difficulties has always received attention from all levels. The residential area is always stable, the people trust the leadership of the Party, the management of the government, and are assured of economic development and building a healthy cultural life.

In order to join hands with the government to implement the program of building new rural areas, women's unions at all levels in Hai Lang district have implemented many good models, campaigns, and emulation movements to join hands in building new rural areas. The union has organized many booths "Women with safe agricultural products", booths displaying typical products, OCOP products of the district...

Along with that, the association has directed the grassroots to review the needs and make a list of registrations to open annual vocational training classes. The association levels proactively coordinated to organize 48 vocational training classes for 1,100 female members; 35 training classes on science and technology transfer, seminars on market connection and sharing of business experiences, training on livestock breeding, cultivation, food hygiene and safety in production, processing, food trading and farm breeding... with 801 participants.

In the past 3 years, the association has supported the construction of 59 economic models; 57 business start-up models, established 12 cooperative groups with 226 members... Up to now, 100% of the association's facilities have waste classification models with 14,717 members; 10 models, clubs, and women's groups have been established to limit the use of plastic bags with 482 members.

100% of grassroots and district-level units have registered with the steering committee for new rural construction at the same level to carry out projects and tasks to participate in new rural construction, focusing on the construction of flower roads, model roads, playgrounds for children, and lighting up rural roads. Building models for waste classification at source, waste collection and treatment, hygienic toilets, and building model roads of communes and villages that are bright - green - clean - beautiful.

The model of “Foster children of the Youth Union” is also a good way that Hai Lang District Youth Union has implemented to implement the program of building new rural areas. Through that, the Youth Union - Pioneer organizations in the whole district have received 45 foster children with support from 200 thousand to 1 million VND/month. Depending on the circumstances of the foster children, the grassroots Youth Unions apply a long-term sponsorship plan from 2-3 years or until the difficulties are reduced and they mature. “Foster children of the Youth Union” are children from families with especially difficult circumstances and at risk of dropping out of school.

To implement this model, Hai Lang District Youth Union coordinated with grassroots unions to visit each child's house to understand their specific family circumstances, from which they came up with a plan to give monthly or quarterly support money and mobilize from many sources: philanthropists, contributions from cadres, youth union members and from receiving projects to raise funds...

The model is implemented to demonstrate the care and concern of the Youth Union and Pioneers at all levels for children and teenagers; to support and help students with difficult circumstances to rise up in life, continue to study, and nurture their dream of studying to become useful people for society.

In addition, good models in the economic field implemented by the district have significantly contributed to increasing people's income. Typical examples include the model of applying organic rice production processes, Viet GAP; the FSC large timber forest planting model; the production and consumption models of K4 Hai Phu oranges, Hai Lang district...

With positive results from the new rural construction models in Hai Lang district, it shows that when people are truly in charge, when authorities at all levels accompany, and political and social organizations play a core role, changing the face of the countryside has become a practical and effective action.

Up to now, 15/15 communes in the area have met the new rural standards; 4/15 communes have met the advanced new rural standards; in 2024, Hai Lang district will be recognized as meeting the new rural standards. The locality is continuing to aim for the goal of building advanced new rural areas and model new rural areas. Typical models and creative approaches from the grassroots will continue to be a solid foundation for Hai Lang to successfully achieve the goal of building new rural areas in the next phase.
