According to Xinhua News Agency, on June 5, Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen expressed confidence that Cambodia will escape the status of a least developed country by 2027 at the latest and will achieve the goal of becoming an upper-middle-income country by 2030.

“Maintaining peace and political stability is the most important prerequisite to achieve these goals,” Prime Minister Hun Sen said at the Royal University of Law and Economics. Hun Sen said Cambodia’s economy has recovered well from the pandemic, with GDP growth forecast to reach 5.6% in 2023, up from 5.2% in 2022.
