TPO - After nearly 3 years of construction, the Tra Khuc 3 Bridge project (Phuoc Loc Bridge) with a unique steel arch design across the Tra Khuc River has been completed and officially opened to traffic tomorrow (August 19). This is not only a key traffic project, the prominent steel arch shape also promises to become a new architectural highlight of Quang Ngai.

The Tra Khuc 3 bridge project across the Tra Khuc River has a total investment of 850 billion VND, of which 525 billion VND comes from the central budget and the rest comes from the Quang Ngai provincial budget.

The project is invested by the Quang Ngai Provincial Traffic Construction Investment Project Management Board, starting construction at the end of 2022. This is one of the key projects of Quang Ngai province in the period of 2024-2025, included in the list of projects to welcome the 21st Provincial Party Congress, term 2025-2030.

Tra Khuc 3 Bridge has a total route length of 2.55km, of which the bridge is 710m long and the approach road is more than 1.8km long.

The bridge has 15 spans, the bridge deck is 22.9m wide with an upper structure consisting of 3 concrete-filled steel tube arch spans and 12 U-beam approach spans, 38m long, made of prestressed reinforced concrete.

The project plays an extremely important role in connecting Nghia Giang commune with Son Tinh commune to form a synchronous, inter-regional traffic network, contributing to promoting economic and social development. Not only that, when the bridge is put into operation, it will connect two important traffic routes: National Highway 24B and Provincial Road 623B.

Previously, to name the bridge, Quang Ngai province established a council consisting of many sectors, consulted with departments, agencies and experts and the name "Ha Thuan" was proposed for Tra Khuc 3 bridge.

However, the proposed name "Ha Thuan" has encountered different opinions, such as: it is not in the list of street names and public works names of Quang Ngai and the combination of the names of Tinh Ha commune (old) north of the project and Nghia Thuan commune (old) south of the project into the name Ha Thuan, along with the explanation of "harmonious river" is not convincing...

After many rounds of debate, the experts sat down to study and evaluate the name "Phuoc Loc" and agreed. Researchers, authorities, and people agreed with this name for Tra Khuc 3 bridge.

According to the leaders of Quang Ngai province, the name Phuoc Loc was chosen based on the practical, historical and geographical basis of the land where the project is located.

Specifically, this is the name of the ferry that previously existed on the river, and this area is also associated with the name of Phuoc Loc commune, Phuoc Loc waterfront - a symbol associated with the land of An mountain and Tra river in general and the construction site of Tra Khuc 3 bridge project in particular.

Thus, after 3 years of construction, Phuoc Loc bridge has been completed and officially opened to traffic tomorrow (August 19).
