Syrian state media reported on the morning of August 14 that a missile attack had targeted a US airbase at the Conoco gas field in Syria's Deir al-Zor province.

According to the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR), explosions were heard near the Conoco gas plant where US forces are stationed, and sirens sounded throughout the base when it was attacked.

The attack was carried out by pro-Iranian militias, according to SOHR. Following the attack, the Kurdish-led Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), a US-backed militia, launched retaliatory artillery strikes against Iran-aligned militants west of Deir al-Zour.

Meanwhile, two unnamed US officials revealed that the missiles did not hit the airbase and that there were no casualties. However, initial information may change. In addition, the pro-Iranian Lebanese Al Mayadeen TV channel reported that US fighter jets flew several times over Deir al-Zor province after the attack.
