Syrian state media reported on the morning of August 14 that a missile attack had targeted a US airbase at the Conoco gas field in Syria's Deir al-Zor province.

According to the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR), explosions were heard near the Conoco gas plant, where US forces are stationed, and sirens sounded throughout the base when it was attacked.

The SOHR said the attack was carried out by pro-Iranian militias. Following the attack, the Kurdish-led Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), a US-backed militia, launched retaliatory artillery strikes against Iran-linked militants west of Deir al-Zour.

Meanwhile, two unnamed US officials revealed that the missiles did not hit the airbase and that there were no casualties. However, initial information may change. In addition, the pro-Iran Lebanese TV channel Al Mayadeen reported that US fighter jets flew several times over the airspace of Deir al-Zor province after the attack.
