Deputy Prime Minister Le Thanh Long signed a decision approving the Project "Training and fostering human resources for nuclear power development until 2035", aiming to ensure safety and security in the field of atomic energy to serve the country's socio -economic development and train high-quality human resources to serve nuclear power plants.
Nearly 4,000 workers needed for 2 nuclear power plants
According to the decision signed on May 26, by 2030, the goal is to meet the human resource needs for the Ninh Thuan 1 and Ninh Thuan 2 nuclear power plants.
Specifically, Ninh Thuan 1 Nuclear Power Plant needs a total of about 1,920 people, of which 1,020 are university graduates (engineers, bachelors) and 900 are college graduates. The number of university graduates newly trained abroad is 320 people.

Ninh Thuan 2 Nuclear Power Plant needs a total of about 1,980 people, of which 1,050 are university and postgraduate level, 930 are college level. The number of university and postgraduate level human resources newly trained abroad is 350 people.
It is expected to update knowledge for about 450 lecturers, researchers, and technicians currently teaching at universities, research institutes, and colleges that train in nuclear power majors.
At the same time, train lecturers specializing in nuclear power to supplement the teaching human resources for the facilities assigned to train and develop human resources for the Ninh Thuan 1 and Ninh Thuan 2 nuclear power plants, about 120 people (80 masters, 40 doctors).
In the period 2031 - 2035, we will continue to train and develop additional human resources to meet the actual needs of nuclear power plants.
There are expected to be 11 training facilities.
To achieve the above goals, the Prime Minister has proposed specific tasks and solutions. These include researching, developing and submitting to competent authorities for promulgation of mechanisms and special incentive policies for human resource training facilities serving nuclear power development, teachers, learners and workers meeting the requirements for construction and operation of nuclear power plants.
Regarding human resource training, priority is given to selecting students who have graduated from the same major to be sent for training and development in the nuclear power major with a commitment to serve the Ninh Thuan 1 and Ninh Thuan 2 nuclear power plants in each specific phase.
In addition, select and send first and second year students at domestic training institutions to study abroad with a commitment to serve the Ninh Thuan 1 and Ninh Thuan 2 nuclear power plants.

It is expected that 11 training institutions will be selected by the Government to participate in training and fostering human resources for the Ninh Thuan 1 and Ninh Thuan 2 nuclear power plants, including Hanoi University of Science and Technology, University of Natural Sciences (Vietnam National University, Hanoi), University of Natural Sciences (Vietnam National University, Ho Chi Minh City), University of Electricity, Dalat University, Vietnam Atomic Energy Institute (Ministry of Science and Technology), University of Science and Technology (Vietnam National University, Da Nang), University of Science and Technology (Vietnam National University, Ho Chi Minh City), Hanoi University of Construction, Ho Chi Minh City College of Electricity (Southern Power Corporation, Vietnam Electricity Group), Vietnam College of Oil and Gas (Vietnam National Energy and Industry Group).
These schools will receive focused investment and improved facilities. During the implementation process, the above list of proposed training facilities may be adjusted depending on actual conditions and proposed documents.
The Prime Minister assigned the Ministry of Education and Training to update, supplement and complete the training content and programs. Accordingly, promulgate a list of training programs/majors serving the development of the nuclear technology sector; promulgate training program standards for majors/groups of majors serving the development of the nuclear technology sector according to international standards; develop, update and complete training curricula for majors in the training program, and foster human resources related to the nuclear power sector.
In addition, the Ministry of Education and Training synthesizes the needs, develops a recruitment plan integrated with training projects with foreign countries as ordered by the Vietnam Electricity Group, the Vietnam National Energy and Industry Group; agreement scholarships and assigns annual university and postgraduate training targets to facilities assigned to train and develop human resources for nuclear power plants.
