(HNMNN) - From January 13, 1947 to February 2, 1947, President Ho Chi Minh stayed and worked at the house of Mr. Nguyen Dinh Khue, Lai Cai hamlet, Phu Da village (now Phu Da 1), Can Kiem commune, Thach That district. Here, Uncle Ho and other Party leaders discussed and decided on many major and important policies related to the fate of the country. 76 years have passed, but the people of Can Kiem still cherish every memory of beloved Uncle Ho. The house and the relics that he used are still preserved, becoming a "red address" for propaganda andeducation on revolutionary historical traditions in the locality.
CHERISH EVERY STORY
One day in early May, following a small laterite-paved alley, we visited Uncle Ho's Memorial House - a revolutionary historical site in Lai Cai hamlet, Phu Da 1 village, Can Kiem commune. This is a revolutionary "red address" of Thach That district, annually attracting a large number of cadres, party members, people, especially students in the whole district to visit, offer incense to commemorate and pay tribute to him, thereby learning and following Ho Chi Minh's ideology, morality and style.
On the orange-yellow ground, the 9-room house and the horizontal row of houses roofed with simple palm leaves stained with time are located on the highest hill in the area, shaded by magnolia, star apple, jackfruit... Here, there are many souvenirs that Uncle Ho used during the 19 days of living and working, such as working tables and chairs, kerosene lamps, beds, wash basins, water jars... and many documentary photos and his handwriting. Those precious souvenirs are cherished and preserved by Ms. Nguyen Thi Luy, the fourth generation descendant of Mr. Nguyen Dinh Khue.
According to the book "History of the Can Kiem Commune Party Committee", on the night of January 13, 1947 (ie December 22, Binh Tuat year), on the way to the Viet Bac resistance base to direct the revolution, Uncle Ho and a number of Central cadres returned to Can Kiem to stay and work at the house of Mr. Nguyen Dinh Khue. This was the longest stop on the way Uncle moved from Hanoi to the resistance capital. The house was made of bamboo, the walls were made of earth, the doors were covered with wild branches... During the days staying at the simple thatched house of Mr. Khue's family, Uncle Ho and comrades Truong Chinh, Vo Nguyen Giap, Nguyen Luong Bang, Tran Dang Ninh... discussed and decided on many major and important policies related to the fate of the country, and at the same time drafted many documents to direct the resistance...
During his stay here, Uncle Ho wrote "New Year's greetings to the people and soldiers of the South" (January 24, 1947), "Letter to the soldiers of the Capital's suicide army" (January 27, 1947), "Letter to the soldiers of the National Guard, self-defense forces and militia nationwide"... He also spent time editing old books to reprint and widely distribute... On the occasion of the Lunar New Year of Dinh Hoi, Uncle Ho gave the family of Mr. Khue a card with the four words "Cung hy tan xuan" written in Chinese characters. On the afternoon of February 2, 1947 (ie January 12, Dinh Hoi year), Uncle Ho left Can Kiem for the Viet Bac resistance base.
In a conversation with us, Ms. Nguyen Thi Luy emotionally said: "My grandfather's family was very honored to welcome Uncle Ho for 19 days and nights. Uncle Ho lived and worked in the leftmost room of the house. 76 years have passed but the mementos still feel warm with his breath. I, along with the children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren of Mr. Nguyen Dinh Khue, wish to continue to cherish and preserve his mementos so that they will last forever."
Chairman of Can Kiem Commune People's Committee Nguyen Tuan Chinh added: Uncle Ho's coming to live and work in Can Kiem is an important historical event, a great honor, forever engraved in the golden history of the local revolutionary struggle tradition. Uncle Ho's affection for Can Kiem Commune in particular and Thach That District in general reminds generations of cadres, party members and people in the commune to always unite, be united, and strive to build an increasingly prosperous and happy homeland...
In memory of his merits, in 1974, the Party Committee and people of Can Kiem commune participated in restoring the old house of Mr. Nguyen Dinh Khue into the Uncle Ho Memorial House. Currently, the 9-room house is still preserved in its original state, the middle room is the altar of Uncle Ho, the remaining rooms are places to display memorabilia associated with the time Uncle Ho lived and worked here, documentary photos, his writings...
VOW TO FOREVER FOLLOW HIS EXAMPLE
Without being told, every Can Kiem resident respects and always follows the example of beloved Uncle Ho. Generations of cadres, party members and people of Can Kiem commune are always united, joining hands to build a rich, civilized homeland, and to build an increasingly clean and strong Party Committee. According to Secretary of the Can Kiem Commune Party Committee Nguyen Huu Hai, in recent years, despite facing difficulties, the Party Committee and people in the commune have closely followed the leadership and direction of all levels, always united, made efforts to overcome difficulties, and gradually implemented and completed the set goals and targets. The Party Committee and the commune government have gradually innovated their working style and manner, in the direction of "clear people, clear work, clear quality and efficiency of work"; focusing on leading and directing the implementation of key and focal tasks. In particular, the locality has focused on Party building and rectification, focusing on overcoming limitations, difficulties and shortcomings, and self-correcting...
Thanks to that, in 2022 and the first 4 months of 2023, the local economy continued to have a good growth rate; the average income per capita in 2022 reached 62.6 million VND/person/year; the whole commune has only 5 poor households, accounting for 0.19%. The commune continues to maintain and improve 19 national criteria on new rural construction. From 2021 to now, the locality has received support from the superior budget to invest in practical public works with a total cost of over 273 billion VND; in addition, people have voluntarily contributed more than 16 billion VND, 974m2 of land and over 9,433 working days to build public welfare works, roads, etc.
In the work of Party building, the Can Kiem Commune Party Committee has gradually improved the quality of activities of Party committees at all levels and Party members in the Party Committee. The implementation of Directive 05-CT/TU of the Politburo on promoting the study and following of Ho Chi Minh's ideology, morality and lifestyle in the commune in recent years has become a regular task of the Party Committee, the government and the entire political system. In the process of implementation, each Party cell has integrated the basic contents of Ho Chi Minh's ideology, morality and lifestyle with the local political tasks, creating motivation to successfully complete the tasks set by the locality. In particular, each Party member in the entire Commune Party Committee has always actively cultivated, trained and set a good example in performing work as well as studying and following Ho Chi Minh's ideology, morality and lifestyle.
... In May, returning to Can Kiem, I cannot help but feel moved with longing for Uncle Ho. The image of him in the simple, rustic thatched house seems to have extraordinary power, reminding everyone to train themselves, make efforts and unite to build the homeland to become more and more beautiful, worthy of being a resilient revolutionary land, a place that leaves an indelible mark of beloved Uncle Ho.
